Bolt refused to work at all at the weekend, last night it did record the ride - I can see it in the history - but its not sending it to the app on my phone.
Tried unpairing and re-pairing them, but no change. Anyone got any ideas?
To he fair, I won it when they first released the Bolt, I've had years of great use out of it, the screen is going and I quite fancy a Roam, so this may just force that decision.
While you all explain the bleeding obvious to me, I'm going out got a little ride to give it another go, and see if I can get my head to synch with a better place.
Turn it off and on again obvs, check for updates, factory reset, unpair-pair, uninstall and reinstall the app maybe?
Is it and the app fully up to date?
Check what channel your wifi is running on. Bolt only supports channels 1-9, so if your wifi recently reset and/or jumped to one of the channels above 9 to avoid congestion the Bolt won't be able to connect anymore.
My Bolt v1 had a spate of doing this, had to delete it from the app and then re-pair it to sort. As the app keeps all the configuration stuff didn't lose anything, but it did take a while to re-sync all the historical rides back to the app.
A software update sorted it a little while afterwards.
Personally I'm holding out for the Roam 2, hoping for Bolt v2 screen but bigger and with more functionality (something like the Garmin Climb Pro would be nice).
Contact Wahoo customer service, they're really helpful.
Obviously not sure this is your issue but I read somewhere that Wahoo devices use dynamic MAC addresses, hence they generate a new one each they connect to your network. Maybe your router has run out of assignable IP's due to being flooded with 'unique' MAC addresses?
Apparently Apple also do this but they keep the MAC address consistent per SSID which prevents the above.
As a fix you could possibly delete a load of assigned IP addresses i your router settings (maybe keeping a few you definitely know) or reduce the lease time so they clear up more frequently?
Someone on here probably knows how this stuff works way better than me, just thought I'd pass it on as it seems relevant.
Will try some of these when I get back home - pretty sure it updated last week, possibly what's triggered the glitch.
It's not uncommon for Wahoo to break stuff with updates...
This mornings ride synced straight through to Strava 🤷♂️
Mine occasionally has a brain fart too. I'll plot a ride on Kamoot, it appears on the Wahaoo phone app, but when I select the route to ride it won't bluetooth to the Bolt unless I re-sync over wifi. Not the end of the world but I used to be able to just bluetooth the routes in without wifi.
Not heard the phrase "brainfart"for a while but excellent usage
The advice above about the wifi channel sounds the likely cause to me if it's intermittent.
I think I have the same issue.
