You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My first post here - plugging my own 'product'. 😉 Hope that's okay, because it's intended as a free community resource - a bikepacking 'webzine' (can't think of a more accurate term, but you'll get the drift if you visit).
Find it here Trails and Tours
Best,
Martin
You can post links to your own trip reports on Trails and Tours, now - blog posts, live tweets, links to theads here... whatever. You can find the right page in the top menu under Features -> Your trips and tips
I also added some advanced searching functionality that shows up when (possibly) needed.
I've already asked this question over at bikepacking.net, but I need as much feedback as I can get on this specific one.
The site (trails-tours.com) is getting quite a few hits, but almost all of them go to the front page and individual posts. It's still rare for people to use the advanced (topical) browsing options in the sidebar. Are they getting overlooked or are visitors simply content to leaf through the site chronologically? It would be good to know.
Thanks for your help.
... now including a newsletter option: http://trails-tours.com/newsletter/
I've just updated the site to include a section for adventure races. There are a few entries already - and no doubt it will grow.
Additionally, there is now an explanatory page on navigation options: http://trails-tours.com/using-site/ - shows how to use the site for focussed research.
Thanks Martin.
The adventure side of mtbing was one of the first things that caught my eye about the mtb back in the mid 80's.
Although I ended up, pretty quickly, following the race scene, then DH, etc. However I'm getting back to into the idea. This could help me get some planning done so thanks again. I'll spend a bit of time on the site today I'm sure.
I have added a few 'specials' under Features (in the top menu) - one for beginners, one for travel tips and one for trail skills. If you can think of any other topic groups that ought to be bundled, I would appreciate your suggestions.
With the holidays (and some spare time?) almost upon us, perhaps you might like to scan your own blogs for memorable trip reports or good gear reviews - and post them here: http://trails-tours.com/sites/
(Just a reminder... always looking for good material.)
Looking at my site's stats (okayish) and wondering when the bikepacking season starts for you - meaning riders in the northern hemisphere. Personally, much of my mind is on skiing until the snow thaws at affordable altitudes. But I always reserve a few brain cells for bikepacking during the winter. Since I'm currently more or less contented with my kit, those cells are fantasising about a long summer trip from the Alps to the Med...
