You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
was down at Innerleithen on the 27th of last month for my first Adrenaline Uplift... was really enjoying the downhill tracks, was haring down on my 3rd run, pulled on the rear brake only to find nowt happening... only way to stop was to bail out over the side......Hmmm I thought that the crappy Zee brakes had let me down again (no pun intended there)
it was when I reached the car park and had a better look see at the rear of the bike that I discovered the whole rear brake adapter had broken, now turns out that this part is rarer than hens teeth, been in touch with Trek UK and USA, tried several bike shops in the UK and several abroad....just no joy.... looks like my auld 2007 Trek Session 10 is finally dead....was told that it was down to "metal fatigue"
have had the auld gal for 7 years now.. been a great bike DH rig for me.... time to move on methinks..... 🙂

That looks like an unusual brake adapter - not seen one like that before. Sounds like it’s new bike time - seems silly just for a rear brake adapter.
But it’s a really good excuse for a shiny new bike and things have moved on since 2007. So what’s on the shortlist? 😃
the adapter was indicative to the 2006/07 Trek Session 10 as was the rear mech hanger they could be moved up/down to give a slacker/steeper angle to the bike.
been looking at a few 2nd DH bikes (I can't justify a brand new DH rig at my age..... 🙂 ), will hang on till around Xmas time and see what's still available...will miss the big rig that's fer sure...
Thought all the front triangles had cracked around the shock mount years ago? Yours must be one of the last surviving examples!
have you tried BETD? they might be able to fabricate something for you/ have done one before?
As above, an IS adapter would be easier to manufacture than the original one (photo from a German website):

It wouldn't be particularly cheap, unless you found someone to do you a favour, but it wouldn't take that much to re-design a bracket for that rear caliper.
As above, some kind of two part affair that bolted together, rather than one complicated part would be cheaper.

that looks the biz.... may fire off an email to check out the price.... cheers....good find... 🙂
Then again my Banshee legend would see you right till your coffin's getting nailed shut. Shameless I know. Seriously sucks about about your session, if there was one part that was gonna brake that was it, those things are beasts. Good luck finding a solution.
That pic makes me feel queezy, surely it should have more bolts on it to stop it moving under any load.

Just received word back from them.... alas they don't do the part.... cheers though bud.. 🙂
If your near to Edinburgh, take the adaptor along to Pentand precision engineering at Straiton. They manufactured a one off widget for me a couple of years ago.
I'd imagine they could made a new dropout like shown in OTSDR's out of plate steel / alloy easy enough.
