So I bought a set of those Zebs off CRC.
They're 170mm travel
Stanchions have sag markings for 170/180mm
Low end R damper
Nice red stickers on the lowers.
I have another set of 2021 Zebs on my Ebike. Well used and scuffed up lowers, but still seem to function perfectly.
Select+ so Charger 2.1 damper.
160mm travel
Stanchions have sag markings for 150mm/160mm
My Trail/Enduro bike has lyriks on it. I want to put the best possible Zebs on the trail/enduro bike.
I plan to concoct this from the best parts of both of the forks above.
What I want on the trail/enduro bike is: 160mm travel air shaft, charger 2.1 damper, new lowers with the nice red stickers (matches the paint)
What I am struggling with, is the stanchions i.e. whether to
1) use the new stanchions, which I suppose will be less worn and aren't yet abused. But: they have the wrong sag marking on them
Or
2) use the old stanchions off the ebike. Have the right sag markings. I don't think they're scratched, and I don't think there were any signs of wear below the seals...
But they have been abused for a few years by a hamfisted biffer on an eeb.
What would singletrackworld do?
I’d use the old stanchions on the principle that when they do get scratched in future then you’ll have some spares. If they look ok then they almost certainly are ok.

Zebs are longer A2C than Lyriks for the same travel, aren’t they? Perhaps I miss remember.
I'd stick with the old stanchions too.
Thanks all

It's about 3mm different, Zebs being the longer.
My lyriks are 170 so going shorter. They've always been a touch too long
Sweet. All makes sense.
I'd just swap the lowers I think.
I would get a new 160mm spring for the new forks, and put the old 2.1 damper in the new forks as well.

You could re-use the old spring, but if they are well used it might be quite worn anyway. Mine started leaking into the lowers after a while.
For future reference if anyone else looks at this thread
I've fitted the new lowers but all the other old bits to my trail bike.
I've just realised the old crown assembly is slightly larger - think it's because it was from an eeb with a massive head tube.
The crown around the lower headset race sticks out a litte bit on my trail bike whereas the new crown on the eeb is smaller and looks a bit anaemic.
Think I will probably swap the old crown/stanchions back onto the eeb and swap the damper and air shaft onto the new crown/stanchions on the trail bike.
Will just have to live with the sag markings being wrong.
That's a job for another day though now!
