We off to Aviemore next weekend for the week and I'm trying to get a list of routes and gpx files together.

I've looked at the TrailForks app and there looks like there are plenty of trails around High Burnside.

We are stopping somewhere between Kincraig and the Alvie Estate so the option to start/finish alongside the Speyside way would be good.

We will probably have a day or 2 riding at Fort William and Laggan but if anyone could offer advice on routes for the remainder of the days it would be appreciated.

Depends what you like doing but my perennial fave is an up and back on the Larig Ghru singletrack. Then out to Loch an Eilan and beyond into the Feshie.

You have easy access into Invereshie Forest for the Inca Trail, Clifftop Trail and across to Green Dream. The track past Drakes Bothy is always entertaining too.

Badaguish is currently riding well.

Carn Ban Mor/Sgor Gaoithe (and the various iterations thereof ) should now be clear of snow, or what's left will be short and soft .

Everything is super dry at the moment. Maybe too dry as its getting loose in places.

FWIW my experience of Trailforks round here is that it has many of the tracks the wrong way round - so be prepared to experiment.

One from last night

There's a strava segment called "Allt Druidh Singletrack" or alternatively "Hazardous my @rse" on Lairig Ghru that is one of the best stretches of flowy singletrack I've ever ridden.
In the Rothiemurchus area. I also like the section to get to the top of it. It's only a mellow gradient, but super-fun.

Over on the NW side of the town, there was a new one called "Resurrected" that was superb too.
In fact all the red trailforks trails we did in that area were superb. Side Pipe, T.H.R,

Great, thanks for all the advice so far. I'll definitely try and encompass a ride with Larig Ghru.

Is the best way of crossing the river Spey and into the Feshie via the bridge at Kincraig. The only other option seems to head in the other direction to Aviemore alongside the Speyside trail?

Only done one route round Aviemore in the last 20 years, but it was a cracker.

Park at the ski area, cycle all the way up the road, round the back of the summit by Marquis Well and on to the summit.  It's all rideable, but damned hard work.  Really rewarding and challenging.

Then down to Coire an t Sneachda (sp) then along to Ben Mcdui.  The down the west side of Coire an Lochain to the car park

Awesome

Yes. There are no crossings between Aviemore and Kincraig/Loch Insh.

For an extened version of the Lairig Ghru route....

Park at Glenmore.

Ride up the Allt Mor path to Utsis Bridge.

Cross the Allt Mor and head towards the Chalamain Gap.

Just before the boulder field, cross the burn and carry/push your bike to the top of the wee hill on your right.

Descend to the LG (the last bit is a pitched staircase).

A wee bit of riding/pushing gets you to the top of the track from Rothiemurchus Lodge

Enjoy.

Turn right and head back towards Glenmore.

This was riding to the Chalamain Gap last May.

+1 to pretty much everything  noted above. There's  some fun little bits heading get down to the cake & squirrel place near Insh, but beware - you now have to book in a slot there!

Yeah that's a damn shame bout inschriach tea rooms, doing a "cake or death" run round Loch An Eilein/Loch Gamhna and dropping through feshie forest into the tea rooms for helpings of cake/coffee was a regular feature on my trips up to Aviemore, i'll have to find somewhere else next week when i'm back up on holiday
