Why do rear derailleurs always seem to be set up perfectly when the bike is in the workstand or doing a couple of test laps of the garden (to test it under load), then start ticking and pissing around the second you actually start a ride?

the clue is test under load.....

Checked everything else, hanger etc? Then use the barrel adjust for fine tuning
