You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I sold my bike Garmin, as I never ended up using it, and had to use a phone to track running and other sports, which was a pain, so I want one thing that does everything.
Is there anything better than the Fenix 3? I've now played with the Vivoactive & haven't been that impressed, the screen is pretty useless unless it's nice and bright & the owner was constantly having issues getting ANT+ sensors to work with it.
The only thing that puts me off the Fenix is the size of it, I have slim, girly wrists so don't want to look like a footballer with a massive, oversized watch on all the time...
Sunnto ..... bombproof and reliable and accurate/good battery life and now bluetooth - Ambit 3

I looked at a couple of the Suunto's to compare but most seem to think the Garmin is a better unit in the reviews?
Plus they seem to be even bigger, so will look ridiculous on my scrawny arms.
Fenix 3 is massive.
Forerunner 920XT is a much more manageable size, and is great for multisport use.
What do you want to use it for?
What exactly do you want it to do? I found the Tom Tom things fine for tracking use and a lot smaller than full-on things like the Fenix and the Suunto stuff. They're not particularly sexy and won't do navigation, but work for just recording and uploading tracks and monitoring HR data.
I've found the 'mapping' on GPS watches is pretty token stuff to be honest, though the Fenix works well enough for following a pre-loaded GPX route. A lot of the features are only really of use if you're a proper, full-on tech geek or are sort of gizmo gimmicks most of the time - e.g the Suunto Traverse has a storm warning alarm, which mostly you can pre-empt by simply looking out of the window...
920xt user here and I love it.
Only negative is I am sure its not as good at counting lengths in the pool as my old 910xt.
Cheap Polar multisport watch here - pretty much use it for everything I do in the gym, outside etc. Captures HR with the strap and can upload to PolarFlow to see data
Depends on what you want to capture and use it for. For me it was primarily as a running watch to target specific HR zones and for everything else as an indication of calories burnt
It will be used for road riding, MTB, turbo, normal & trail running, squash & some basic navigation for trails. I have a few Garmin ANT+ sensors that can pair up with it as well.
Little add on stuff like steps, sleep stuff I'll use, but not essential & the sync/notification with the phone is reasonably handy too.
It has caught my eye as I had an Amazon Prime offer for one for £199, which seems seriously cheap.

Suunto use bluetooth atm.
I'd stick with garmin if I didn't want to be buying new sensors.

for a 3? thats seriously cheap. where?
Could be because the new Fenix 3 HR is out soon which has the heart rate monitor built in - if that's important to you?
That might be the final blow then, don't want to have to buy new sensors as well.

Yeah, for a 3. It was a fulfilled by Amazon deal, I bought it as it was showing only 1 left, and would have just sent it back if it didn't look like it was going to do what I wanted.
It popped up on my email earlier today.
