my revolution multi tool chain splitter has broken..typical just when I needed it. so what would be an alternative? must have CS and be relatively lightweight. [img] [/img]

Topeak Hexus 11 is excellent. Not hugely lightweight, but very solid and dependable. IME all the light weight ones have useless chain tools which break when you actually want to use it.

I have one of these...

The hexus is probably better, easier to use, and will last longer, but the lezyne is just lovely to look at. I only use it on the road too as I wouldn't want to get it muddy 😀

+1 for the Topeak Hexus. I have one from years ago when it was called the hummer. Good value too. I have a Lezyne like the one pictured above as well. Came free with a subscription but it's not as good as the Topeak.

I have one of those Lezynes ^^ for the road and another of their chunkier ones for the MTB. 😳

the CS has seen lots of use as it was the only one I had.. ordered a proper one to use at home (park tools).. but still like to have one for the bike just in case others need it

http://www.topeak.com/products/Tools/hexus2 can you get enough purchase on that chain splitter?

Yup, it's better than most workshop chain splitters tbh.

I also have the Lezyne. Also so does my brother. I've not used mine much, but my brother as and he recommended it to me

I see where the hex key for the CS is!!! on the tire levers...DOH!
it would have been awkward otherwise 🙄

Love Lezyne design and have some of their pumps, tools etc. The Topeak Hexus II is the tool you are looking for (if you want a decent tool that lasts with a good splitter attached).

There's only one thing Crank Bros do well and it's multi tools.

Have had a multi mini 5 for ten years or so.

I had a multi 17 which was good but lost it.

Currently have a lezyne stainless 12 in my camelbak

[img] [/img]

and if I'm going out for a long day I'll take my gerber crucial too, in case I need to do some poking, cutting or pinching.

Unashamed plug:

What you need is this:

There's a little bit of corrosion on it but will wipe off with a bit of WD40 (if I wasn't so lazy!) and a rag! Chain tool on it is great - I've just got too many and only want £10 posted for this to get rid…..any good to you?

😀

I've got one of these and it's bloody brilliant. Everything you need (apart from pliers, which you can always manage without) and it's very well built.

Great quality tools and as ergonomic as a multi tool can be.

I have a Lezyne - it's rather difficult to get the required torque through the chain tool to split a chain - The spoke key which you have to hold is too small to get enough purchase, and the design of the handle is rather uncomfortable with its sharp edge and protruding hex bolt.

Lezyne RAP. I like it, but I love Lezyne stuff.

Birzman here dont know which model and cant be bothered checking but its shiny and very similar to the Lezyne one already shown.
Lives in the Camelbak and no signs of rust on it yet.

I do rather fancy one of those Ratchet Rockets but more for the toolbox rather than to carry with me. Nifty little bit of kit.

Get a tiny Topeak Mini multitool. Add decent tyre levers and a Park Mini Chain breaker and you'll have everything you probably need.

Add Leatherman for big adventures.

Crank Brothers multi 17 here, seems good, all the tools work, I'd recommend it.

thanks for all the suggestions and the offer of the alien rx - will consider the topeak. Already have a leatherman and other bits..but a mutli tool comes in handy especially when some in the group insist on not bringing out with um
