I swapped over the front wheel on my Digger to diagnose the brake squeal. Rotor or Pads (of course it's blooming rotor, out with the IPA and wire wool. Again). It didn't half ride funny with the 650B in the back. I don't think it's going to catch on.

Got me thinking tho for this 4 day hilly Marches & Castles tour I'm doing end April. 700cc faster off road, not as good offf (mostly as the tyres are way less aggressive- Panaracer gravel 43 kings v WTB Sendero 47). Less space for the dropper to, er, drop if I can make the Alpkit seatpost play nicely, and it's just a load more ugly!

Still, it's left me with a quandary. I shall need my liquid muse later. One thing I know I won't be doing tho is running it mullet! And yes that is a 11-51 SLX (11 spd) cassette on the back. Need to do the mod suggested on a previous thread. That's next on the list.

Oh and can I be first to name this new non thing a "Grullet"? Nothing short of genius.

Didn't call it a Grullet tho. Missed a trick there!

I take it back that the digger looks ugly with 700cc wheels now I've seen that @scotroutes 🙂

I sent pics to my bro and he said "why don't you just borrow my carbon diverge with the futureshock and custom bags?"

I wish I'd considered this BEFORE all the work I've done on the digger 😉

I went to talk once by a chap who had done the Tour Divide on a gravel mullet. Only thing was he'd out the small wheel on the front. 😬

Ah, the old reverse gravel mullet. Or Tellurg if you will.

Took me a couple of runs at "Tellurg" before it made sense 😀

Running a bike "Tellurg" makes some sense if you think about it, arms/neck shoulders feel the knocks sooner than you arse, once you're on the road a more efficient drive wheel will help chop along and as there's less weight forward typically the draggier front wheel will have less of a detrimental effect than one at the rear might...

Logically though the real answer is 29x2.0" rear 29x3.0" front... You need a Jones.

I tend to agreed if there's no suspension. Big volume, lower pressure tyre up front to give a bit of squish. Useful if you do a bit more than fire road bashing.

I think that was the explanation he gave. I did take a pic. I'll see if I have it...

Edit: nope, can't find it.
