After the storms a few weeks ago there are quite a few tracks that have been blocked or partially blocked by downed trees and i know that someone has cleared some of the smaller trees out of the way using a saw.

Thumbs up to them 😀

Does any one know if there's any plans to clear some of the bigger obstructions?

I know there are a few guys that have cleared away rubbish left by campers recently (in particular a gazebo of all things!!) so if there's any plans for a meet up to try and get the tracks back to the way they were or improve them i'd be more than willing to pitch in. Would need to be at the weekend though, too many commitments during the week 😥

Semi related but I've heard today that someone has filled in the rocky descent across the moor behind the Mugdock visitor centre. Disappointed.

Had a go with a saw up there last week. Cleared the tree on way down from Castle to WHW. Seen a burnt out tent in the woods too, some people just should not be allowed out!

Not sure what bit has been filled in, but I would not think the moors could be touched. I know the rocky road down towards the Abie was taken out a few months ago and the cattle moved round there, used to like that bit.

2tyred, any in particular that you are thinking of?
I would have thought that the park rangers would get round to the ones on the bigger trails. Carglas woods was ok, just a few down, couple down still near Boards Farm, but would imagine they will be cleared for vehicle access.

It's the section near the farm where the horses are usually (and the tree house) down to where the path leads off to the WHW, Just down from the old barns. The section that runs kinda through the middle isn't too clear either, near the end where the old stone sink is. Probably not much help as i don't know what people call these sections.

Might take a saw myself but i think it might need a bit more that that to clear the trees, they are pretty big.

I was hoping that the forestry commission might do something about it out of the kindness of their hearts but i don't know what their policy is about things like this.

I know that they have organised runs there so fingers crossed they might set about some of the obstructions with a chain saw, hintity hint 😉

2tyred, yes, the farm is called Boards Farm, and it is the section down to the top of Rosy's hill that you speak of. Think there are 2 tree's down on it, and they are big ones. I am sure they will get shifted soon, they aint too much of a pain lifting over.
