I normally run a rear Mudhugger but my new frame has the brake hose running along the top of the seat stay so it won't fit.
Whats the next best thing.

It's for a hardtail if it makes a difference.

cheers

I use a Topeak Defender on my hard tail. It's not the prettiest but then they are all pretty minging.
Clamps on to the seat post* so no paint getting worn off the seat stays. It is quick release as well so easy to install and remove.

* No good if you have a dropper post that is fully inserted in the seat tube.

The SKS Blade can be adjusted to clamp on the top of the seat tube just under the seat clamp if you have a seat tube that extends above the TT.

I ran one of these for years and it was pretty good until it died.

I went to buy a mud bugger from my lbs but he convinced me to buy another one for the hard tail. Turns out I'd been using an old version designed for 26 inch wheels. I bought the xl version for 29ers and its so much better.

Lighter than a mud hugger. I think it looks better. Easier to remove and install and doesnt destroy your paint work. It's also cheaper too!
