Got shown/blown round the Quantocks yesterday.
Great trails, uber sketchy, so so muddy.
I had so much fun in Triscombe woods, slipping and sliding around, arse buzzing the tyre, ample amounts of manic giggling and falling off the trail (not to be confused with falling off the bike). Heading down steep stuff when you can't stop or hold on is actually quite funny.
Now for some washing....
Hmmmm. I did Friday night and Sunday, both at times seemed like the end of the world coming... I can't say either were 'fun'
FoD was bloomin' great, yesterday, and fairly filthy too.
I'm loving my fattie, just now.
sno way to speak about your wife. 😛
Agreed, good fun yesterday in the local mud by me 😀
It's the mud and wind that make the trails come alive.
Did Penmachno on weekend great fun ploughing through huge puddles, great all weather trail. First time Id been there. Maybe explore more when its better weather 😀 I had to pedal hard down some bits as the wind was gusting hard in places. Made a nice change from FoD
S Cotswolds are cold, v windy and muddy - usual ride has mud that goes 1/4 way up spokes and puddles that soak you when you peddle through. Had tail wind on Saturday morning on the run to home, last jump I went 10m (honest mid 40 year old!). Love it!
Out tonight in the dark. Roadie friends keep saying I should road bike when its like this, but why?
29er hardtail for slopping-it in the winter, bring out the FS for gravity summer fun!
were you out with Si?
I do a night ride with 2 - 5 guys every week and 2 of us love the wet, slippery, muddy stuff almost as much as we love it when it's bone dry and super fast. The other guys tolerate the above but with lots of moaning about it. I mainly ride a mountain bike because it makes me feel like a 10 year hooning around in the woods again and when it's muddy and slippery that's perfect for being a kid again!
jam bo - yes, he showed us down some cracking Triscombe trails, not lost any of his speed on that HT!
Wharncliffe yesterday in heavy rain and 50mph winds. Had to drag myself out but really enjoyed it. Good fun sliding around in the mud with all the huge trees swinging and creaking overhead. Never ridden there on a hardtail, always been on the DH bike. It was erm, challenging.
Having 50mph crosswinds force stinging cold rain down your ear hole can try your patience though.
I was up around Triscombe on the CX bike this afternoon, it was chucking down and blowing a gale. I passed a couple of downhill lads pushing back up, one was wearing a tee-shirt. 😯

That's where all the skinny tyre tracks I kept seeing where coming from then, I was up there on the hardtail with summer tyres on and that was slippery enough!
I passed those 2 downhillers coming up cockercombe too, brave man in the t shirt 😆 They were the only other riders I saw. There was loads of horse riders about though and 4x4's churning up the trails between Lydeard hill and Triscombe 😕
