You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Got a weekend staying near craster at the end of January. Potential for an mtb bimble one day has been raised. Any hidden gems worth aiming for? I’ll be with a mate who is fit enough, cycles to work but not looking for gnar… it looks a bit flat on the os map, more gravel territory maybe?
I live in mnthe border or Newcastle and Northumberland and cycled upto Beadnell for a holiday on the coastal path ,was quite a nice ride, nothing technical or too demanding.
Depending on time allowed sandstone way isn't too far inland could get over to Wooler, there is some nice riding around rothbury too.

Yep. If you fancy a drive there, can recommend a trip up round Simonside. We did the one in the komoot link below and it was a grand few hours out.
Ah yes- should’ve said- the last time we were staying in Northumberland I did a loop around simonside and rothbury. Is it ok in the depths of winter? Last time was in September 2020 and everything was lovely and dry… does it drain well?
I would actually do something like that loop again, I’ll see if he’s up for it ta!
does it drain well?
Mmm 🤔🤔 not the first section no. Axle-deep clarts. The rest was good, although there were some other 'sticky' bits. All manageable though. Alternatively there's this one starting and ending in Wooler, but bits of this could be under water.
That woofer loop is private and maybe a bit far a field but it got my searching komoot and there’s a few suitable looking loops that go along sugar sands beach. That should do us I reckon. Cheers for the tips
That woofer loop is private
Sorry about that. No idea how to make it public sorry. Glad you're sorted
