Is there any difference that's worthwhile between muc off wet lube and c3 ceramic wet lube?
I already have the wet lube, but I've reserved a c3 wet lube because it's reduced. Do I need it?
Useage will be for the road bike?
Is there that much difference between them?

Just got the C3 because I was finding the wet lube very dirt attractive, and the dry short lasting. C3 lasts at least as long as wet, and isn't as black and sticky, so yeah, a good balance.

C3 Ceramic is good when it's really really wet. 2 hrs in this yesterday and chain was still quiet and lubed at the end

I'm still using Squirt dry wax lube and getting surprisingly good results in the wet for a couple of hours of so. Makes cleaning up much quicker too. Rinse, dry, reapply. None of that gunky grime that needs a degreaser to shift it. This has been a revelation to me for winter riding.

You lube your chain before/after a ride? How quaint.

[insert putoline wax evangelism here, still haven't re-lubed since September, haven't ridden that much though]

On a serious note, 'road' lubes do work surprisingly well on road compared to conventional wet lubes if you don't want to go down the putoline route.

Both of these lubes seemed to leave my chain black and covered in grit. I have since changed to Squirt, which seems to be miles better, even on very wet rides.

Me too - but yesterday seemed to be pushing that to the extreme - no lube left whatsoever after about an hour on road and flooded tracks.

Ditto so leaving squirt prepped bike for not so muddy rides and the fatty has C3 on it as it will last a four hour tempest ride in ultra cacky muddy conditions.

Muc Off wet lube - might go black and attract muck, but at least it cleans off when the time comes.

Muc Off C3 ceramic wet libe - flip, this stuff dries to a black plasticky film that you'll need to manually scrape off, link by link. I had to soak everything in white spirit and I ended up with a few marbles worth of plasticky solid grime formed from the lube. Maybe I used a little too much, but even just trying to lube each roller, it turns the chain stiff and still forms a nasty hard black film on anything it touches. I won't be using the rest of it.

Anyone tried Fenwicks Stealth on the road, been good in the wet on the mtb. I just use Squirt on the road bikes, but then I tend to avoid going out if it's that wet.

yeah, I have some Fenwicks Stealth road lube and quite like it. I find ProGold Prolink to be cleaner and more durable though. If its really wet on the road the ProGold Prolink Extreme lasts even longer too. I have that on winter road/cx/tourer bike all the time

As above, after particularly muddy rides the C3 lube seizes my drive train solid. The chain won't even bend.

My delivery of NixFrixShun lube has now arrived from the states, so this recent weather is the perfect time to test their long-lasting lube claims!

Muc off wet is the worst chain lube I've ever used.

It's too thin and drys into a mess that resembles black sticky tarmac, it's very difficult to remove even with degreaser.

Back on Finishline Wet, yes its messy but at least I can get my drivetrain clean inbetween applications.

^^^ whereas I find the C3 ceramic version great when it's proper wet and manky, and it cleans off no problem post ride by running chain through a Park tool cleaner with some Muc off in it. Similarly a spray of muc off on cassette and agitation with a brush, hose down, and it's fine. I don't tend to let it build up over a few rides though..

....and rest of the time I use Squirt 🙂

When the C3 bottle is finished I'm going to try R'n'R Extreme

I have used Fenwicks Stealth on the road. Its ok, but the talk of "air drying formula" on the label hasn't been entirely accurate because it is still wet to touch even when you leave it overnight.

Doesn't attract too much dirt though and easy to clean off.
