So got a metal muc off sram dub preload ring for the cranks to replace the shit plastic sram one
However I’m struggling to get it to work, wind the metal thread all the way out as per any sram crank, but when the cranks installed and I try to preload the ring, it simply doesn’t budge?? I can’t wind it in like it’s jammed (there’s plenty of preload space there as per my plastic previous one)
So I take the cranks off and can then wind it in by hand? Makes no sense, at the moment I’d be willing stick the plastic one back on 🙁
Anyone else had an issue? I can’t see what I’m doing any different to any other sram preload I’ve owned over the last 10 years plus
Only difficulty I had with mine was getting the thread lock to set so the new metal ring held in place. You're turning it the right way yeah?
Howdy!
Yep the correct way, what’s annoying is when the cranks back off I can spin it freely either way, put them on the bike and it’s like it’s locked up tight
Have you got the screw in place when putting it on? I’ve tried with the screw on and without and it doesn’t seem make a difference
Screw was in place when I put it on and set the preload amount. Have you greased up the threads? In the box packaged it wouldn't move for love nor money because they screwed the two together dry.
Yeah did put some grease on but not loads, I’ll start it all again tomoz and grease the hell out of it I’ll report back 👍
Got to put a new bb on tomoz so I’ll have a good check of it all
