Not a fan of the vlog format but Seth's bine hacks does have some good videos though as an exception to the rule.

That.

I don't watch much MTB on YouTube but he has a really "honest" attitude and is both enthusiastic and entertaining. His action camera review was a goody.

Dave Jenvey, proper car crash stuff, and a childlike honesty that's very endearing.

Met him at ard rock, a very nice lad.

So many decent ones out there, shame there’s not more decent UK based ones (although Brian BKXC did a two week trip here, with Guy Kesteven - also has a decent channel - earlier this year)

McTrailrider because he rides the kind of trails I like and in a way I would like to ride them...

Ben Cathro because he knows his shizzle

Clive Forth on skills because he makes the most sense to me

Other than ones already mentioned like Sam Pilgrim and Ben Cathro

Trippin fellaz
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC_4S7fPMCJVJ6QGPTicYMg

Work your way through Pinkbike’s videos inside the tape and the field tests were good but best of all was the privateer.

Notable mentions for Jeff Kendall-weed, IHFT films/Matt and Jason (not all mtb related but those that are, are well worth a watch), Tom Cardy, Cam McCaul, Duncan Shaw, Ben Deakin and Dudes of Hazzard

+1 for those Privateer vids.

Cathro is top of the shop for me, always interesting and never posts filler or clickbait. He's gonna go a long way in media, if there's any justice.

Rob Warner meets was a great redbull production and shows himself to be just a great bloke and has some cracking guests .
Cathro is just brilliant
Others can become very repetitive but if you want to sink your teeth into some of the best riding and filming go to vimeo and look and Barry godding.start of with the Isle of Skye one and then Iceland trips .simple stunning

Privateer, great vids, showing you can make it from a relative nobody to a somebody.... He was quite humble in the vids too and a long way from the pretentiousness you seem to see about on Youtube and society on the whole at times.

Others can become very repetitive

It's a bit of a Catch 22 situation I think.

People trying to make a career out of being a "YouTuber" end up having to feed the beast with regular content in order to maintain revenue, which almost inevitably leads to filler.

It's a bit different for pro set-ups like GMBN, who can take a more magazine-like approach and target content at different parts of their audience. Though they still churn out some right crap, obvs.

That's why we all love Cathro, as well as being a very likeable, knowldgable and funny guy - he only makes videos when he has something to say - and his skills training business is very likely the main part of his income.

Others can become very repetitive

I think it depends hugely on the youtuber's personality. Take BKXC for instance, he pretty much just does POV videos, OK he's often in places with stunning scenery and riding, which helps, but he's also engaging, funny, seems likeable and finds interesting things to say.

They can be repetitive AND good, of course nickc.
Do you watch all his vids or just the ones that jump out at you?

Cha****ng, there's some (like Loam Ranger and BKXC) that I've probably watched all of their output. I mostly stick them on when I'm cooking, so they play on the background rather than regular telly

I’ve met and ridden with BKXC and he is a really sound bloke, funny, chatty, down to earth and a decent rider.
Some of his content appeals more than other but it’s usually interesting. By his own admission the Tibet trip he recently did had uninspiring riding but as a travel vlog, it was entertaining throughout (to me, anyway)

A lot of it comes down to how they are on film and the editing. I'm pretty boring, mono tone and generally uninteresting and can't edit for shit that coupled with slow riding doesn't help my videos ha ha ha ha.

I have watched some of these and really enjoyed most. I did pick ones from areas I thought I was familiar with but failed to recognise trails I should have known. I think it must be viewing at twice the speed I proceed down them makes them unrecognisable!

Yeah does look that way. Oh and trolling amateur races, by copying the pissed up (smashing beer cans with your head) megaphone heckling style so popular across the pond.

I like mctrail rider , bkxc and bcpov . Will pick and choose from Seth and gmbn as not all of it appeals .
Fair play to bkxc he seems to of got a pretty cool lifestyle out of POV videos although that Tibet trip I wasn’t so sure about , an amazing place to visit I’m sure but the riding looked A bit like rides I’ve done in Scotland where ive got lost and ended up in a field 🙂
