I have a single garage with my car in it and with the arrival of a new bike whenever stock comes in, there is going to be a need to increase storage.

Basically I need to be able to store x2 hard tails, on the wall, above the car, safely. They probably need to be above 4 foot off the floor (the car is low).

I'm happy lifting them up, but ideally I'd have to squeeze between the car and the wall.

Main concern is not dropping the bike on to a plastic car, or it falling off.

Any recommendations on what a decent, safe solution (UK BTW)?

One of those pedal hooks where the bike hangs horizontally from the pedal? Bonus points for a strip of wood for the wheels to sit on so it doesn't rotate.

You could try the below linked pedal hanger. I’ve currently got 2 of them - 1 holding a road bike and 1 a mountain bike.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124432285732

The road bike has a strip of wood (63mmx38mm size wood x 1.5m long ish) along the wall for the wheels to rest on to stop it spinning around the pedal hook. Works really well and keeps the bike well out the way.

The mountain bike has the pedal hook and just the metal wheel support it comes with under the front wheel.

In terms of height on the wallyou’re only limited by how high the handlebars can sit - I.e is it a flat roof or pitched roof etc

This is the road bike solution

Like this?

Small metal bracket under the front tyre to stop it slipping. It's been tidied since and there's another bike directly underneath it.

I haven't walked into them or poked my eyeball on a handlebar since I set this up so it's an improvement for me.

I have three of these hooks in the ceiling, two for the bars and one for the saddle and works fine for two of my bikes.

Yep. Guilty.

The Griff lives in the garage and he only gone once this year. But I need to get the bikes out of the way.

Cheers for the links everyone, I’ll get a couple on order. I can do one one either side of the car.

Any advice on fixing and sizes etc? I’m going into brick.

I used these Bike Wall Mounts to get mine and the wife's bikes up on the wall. They're about 1.1m off the floor at the lowest point. I'm almost 6ft and the handlebar of my wife's bike gives me an inch or two of clearance overhead.

Bikes on Wall

I used the plugs & screws that came with the brackets. Don't remember what size they were, but they looked more than up to the job.

I think (but don’t quote me on it) that the Bourgen ones come with fixings.....if not I’d just get a chunky raw plug type thing - maybe for a 10mm diameter hole and put 3 beefy countersunk screws into them.

Noted you're limited for space but there's no way I would be hanging bikes where they could fall on the car - and I've only got an S3...

I miss my S3, that said it has been 17 years since I sold it...

At the moment there is a risk that every time something moves, the bikes may slide etc. and damage the car, so needs must at the moment. I'll put them up and then probably hand off the thing myself to make sure it's strong enough. I may also put a safety strap on it too and tie it to the wall.

But the Griff may be going at some point, pandemic aside I just don't drive it. It's been sitting pretty much dormant for about 8 years.

Hung mine with a pedal hook like this for well over a year with no issues at all. I had two small angled brackets that each wheel also rested on.

(& yes that was my living room wall!)

Me too. I was contacted by the latest owner a couple of years ago wanting to known if I wanted to buy it back.

Sadly no space or I would have snapped it back up.

I've used pedal brackets for years, very solid and gets the bars out of headbutt height.
