Can anyone recommend a bike shop they trust for servicing in North Wales?
Hopefully in the Llandudno > Betws > Llanberis/Bangor triangle?
I'm so rubbish at it it's unbelieveable. Just spent two hours trying to un-stick my pistons from a set of Hope E4s (that aren't that old). Managed to pop one out, p1ss oil all over the floor (sensible enough to have a blanket down), got it back in.
When I lived elsewhere I'd hit 18 bikes every time but it's a 6-hour round trip nowadays and unless I've got a few weekends in the peak booked it's just a no-go.
Quality is my prime concern. I tend to find someone good and go back for the rest of my life for stuff 🙂
Cycle Wales, now on Anglesey. Dewi helped devise the City & Guild’s bicycle courses and was an excellent teacher! Hope this helps.
Bike shop on Llanberis High Street been around for a while, never used them but assuming they're ok to survive in business.
There is We Cycle in Llandudno (Llandudno Junction and in the town, near The Orme
Thanks all. I kinda know where the shops are - but looking for personal recommendations. (Anglesey isn't out of the question tho - can drop my bike off when I go kayaking!) 🙂
Edit: But closed at weekends, so that kills it 🙁
Sorry, I do all my servicing !
Bit out of your triangle but Andy @ Dee valley workshop.

@chevychase -Dewi used to do a lot of Audax so that’s probably where he is at weekends. Worth a ring, if he can’t sort you then he’ll be able to recommend somewhere reliable!
Thanks @wheelsonfire1 - might just do so. Llangollen isn't hard out either as I've family in that direction(ish) so possibly two birds, one stone.
Better than one cup anyway 😉
💩🤢🤮
Evolution in both Bangor and Colwyn Bay very professional, although always busy. Not cheap either. Cycle Wales looks interesting. I’d meant to do a course with them as I’m even more hopeless than OP, but hadn’t clocked they do routine repairs.
I can recommend Framed in Llanberis. New owner last year.
Not had the best service in Evolution myself but I might have been unlucky.
If youre near Betws then the Alpkit shop has a bike workshop downstairs.
I think they are instagram as Betws bike workshop

A little out of your triangle in Rhyl, but also worth giving a shout...
If its only your brakes send them back to Hope, top class service from the guys who made them. They will have all the bits in stock so doubtful it will be any slower than shop.
@blastit - that would be self-defeating. For a start, I have to remove the breaks, for a second, I have to package them, organise postage, go to somewhere to post them, wait for them to come back, put the breaks back on, align them, bleed them etc.
Or drop the bike off at a shop, have a pro do stuff in 1/8th of the time I'd do, to better effect - and get him/her to give it a once over / random lubing - with all the correct tooling to hand.
Nah. Until I'm retired, I've decided that anything more than changing pads can be done by a pro. 🙂
