* possibly a stealth wanted Ad.

What's out there at a 'good-value' price? This is to go on an On One Vandal frame, probably only occasionally, for 'gravel-plus' rides, bike packing etc.

After carbon really. And for 29er, Boost. No real need for bosses/cage mounts I don't think. Don't want to spend too much as not yet sure how much I will use it.

Cheapest mainstream UK offering seems to be Planet X Selcoff fork.

Anything else to look at?

Came across DIY Carbon Bikes, anyone here use them? Or are there any other reputable china-direct people to deal with?

(*anyone got anything second had they're thinking of moving on?)

Cheers.

Bird blank forks or identiti steel look nicer than carbon, but weight might be an issue.

The carbon genesis tarn forks were often on eBay

Might be worth subscribing to the planet x emails depending on how patient you are prepared to be. I was carbon fork curious back in March/April last year and bagged a Selcof 29 boost fork for £99 in one of their 24hr flash sales. I built up a commuter/bridleway basher and love it.

Yeah, already subscribed... think I get 2 emails per day from them! However, encouraging to know they do go (or have been) on offer.

After researching and asking on here, here's my ten pence.

On my scandal I use trek 1120 carbon forks with cage mounts and fork rack mounts. 3 bolts that fits a trek specific rack. Really good fork. Aluminium steerer too which I think is a bonus.

Previously it was a genesis tarn carbon fork, very similar but without the mounts. They come up cheapish from time to time.

Selcof do two carbon forks. One with mounts, one without. They don't advertise the one with mounts but they will sell it to you if you email them.

There's also alpkit pathfinder fork with cage mounts.

I've got an exotic monocoque boost fork, and it's decent. Not all that light for an all carbon fork, but it's 490mm a/c and is really good at soaking up bumps, better than a steel fork in my experience. 1120 fork looks good too. Other options for £2-300 include banana industries carbon fork:

Does look identical to the Selcof though, and is probably the same open mould

Olsen:  https://olsenbikes.co.uk/products/olsen-mtn-hell-carbon-boost-adventure-mtb-fork-with-15mm-maxle?_pos=5&_sid=3e9b4285d&_ss=r

Exactly the same as above, even the photo!

Spa Cycles:  https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m21b0s29p4989/SPA-CYCLES-Rove-Carbon-Fork

Oh, and another of the same!

Or you could try ebay, there are loads of no brand ones very similar to the above, or ones from known suppliers like Airwolf, direct from China. Otherwise also keep an eye out for 2nd hand Niner forks...

Been using a Carbon Selcof fork for a few years and its been fine. Looks the same as forks that are 4 times the price.
