So I've not owned a mountian bike since my lapierre 514 (2010) there seems to be a huge selection of brands these days and can't beleive how many bikes around over 5k (maybe I'm getting old!).

Anyway can someone give me some tips for which brands to look at ?
I'm looking to spend 2-3k and would prefer an Enduro. I had an old specialized Enduro (early 2000's and it was a lot more fun than the lapierre!

(I've also heard there aren't so many good deals as everyones' been buying bikes in lock-down, so selfish!) 🙂

Bird and Privateer are on my virtual list.
Waiting lists are an issue with all bikes.

The Airdrop Edit luxe build comes in at £2,999. Just need to see if there's any stock in the February drop.

Specialized Status sits within your budget, the Enduro at the moment starts at £5k for the base model! you could get one 2nd hand, it wont have lifetime warranty on the frame but will have two years from date of original purchase.

Vitus make some okay looking bikes which are well specced.

Have you got a local shop you could pop into and see what they have?

Ripmo af deore build is crazy value. I've got the carbon v2 and it's hard to beat as an all round mtb

I'd say definitely have a good look at Bird's offerings, if only for the superb customer service if nothing else (the bikes are awesome as well though)!

+1 For the Airdrop! I've got the V2 and its great! Mate has the Bird Aeris and he really rates that too.

A bit cheaper (and if you've got up to £3k to put into a bike, it'll not excite you much - go for a Bird), but my girlfriend has just picked up a Decathlon bike: AM100S Rock Rider - it's 140mm travel despite the name.

I really can't fault it - other than the fact it seems to be £150 more than it was when she bought hers a couple of weeks ago. While I'm sure the Rockshox 35 won't be much competition for the Zeb I've put on my bike recently and I prefer my Hope V4/E4 stoppers, it is more than enough bike for her to enjoy getting into MTB.

Geometry looks great and the running gear is pretty good. Dropper post included. Seems nicely put together. Well impressed.

Edit - and it's in stock (some sizes). That's a rarity just now. Hers arrived in 3 days.
