Any of you chaps (or chapesses) in the Dundee/Perth/Tayside/Angus area?
Looking for like some riding buddies locally for xc/trail/enduro or just some guidance on where I can go close by.
There's not too much locally other than Templeton woods/Backmuir woods or the Sidlaws (too wet just now?), Theres also Ballo hill/Lairds Loch I need to try again, but this time on the enduro bike, not the xc bike!
Yes; there's quite a strong community with local trails,
In addition to those you've mentioned, there's the Alyth Hill group, also associated with Coupar Angus Cycle Hub and the work at Ballo.
Perth has Kinnoull Hill.
Tentsmuir is the best local option on a wet day.
Sidlaws can be good, even in the wet; I was up last night and it was better than I expected.
For XC, the network around Glamis is pretty good, with some mildly spicy sections once you learn your way around.
A little further afield is Dunkeld, with a huge network to be found on Trailforks. Further still, Pitlochry has excellent steeps too.
The opposite way, best organised woodland trail options include Druntochty near Fettercairn & Scolty just over on Deeside.
All of the Angus Glens have good hill riding in them, including the classic Capel Mounth and various options over the hills and across from glen to glen. Braemar has enough big hill riding to keep you happy for a week of days out.
Club wise, there may still be a Dundee university club; it was certainly still quite active recently. Our group of pals tends to ride Tayside, Deeside & Cairngorms as our main stomping ground. Always happy to show a newcomer around.
Nice but short trails in the old quarry at Balmashanner in Forfar. Lots of different lines for multiple runs. Good for enduro bike.
Pitmedden forest in Fife is great and only half hour from Dundee. Nice big hill riding in the Lomond Hills above Falkland as well.
Guy on here was trying to start a Thursday night meet at Ballo, but not sure how successful it’s been. Think there’s a Facebook page for it.
Comrie Croft is a really good trail centre
Very natural feel in parts and hard in places too
Used to be one awesome trails on the grounds of the Crieff hydro but forest was felled
Think the Builder has been up trying to reinstate them
