We're off for 5 nights in Majorca staying in Puerta Pollenca (however it's spelt). Hopefully eyeing up a half day or so on a hire bike, and was going to just ride road but then a pal mentioned MTB was good, and some pics look gravelly. Probably going solo, I don't want anything too technical. I'm guessing a few folk here have been out that way - anything to recommend?
Why only half day?
Get a road bike hired and do SaColobra it's pretty ****ing great. Leave early up Feminia and back via Batalla
I don’t know if the offroad is any good, but Majorca is pretty much road bike heaven.
The ride to the lighthouse at Cap de Formentor is a quite iconic ride.
Sacolobra was my original plan, it's 2200m climbing which would be a big day - and only half a day because we (the fam) only have 4 in total.
Sa Calobra in half a day is easily doable if you crack on. I personally would go the opposite way to explained above. Out via back road to Campanet and up Coll de la Batalla (my favourite climb) then do Sa Calobra and back home via Col de Femenia. Pretty much the perfect road ride. If you come down Femenia it’s a fun descent then downhill roll home for the last 12km or so. Good for tired legs. Go as early as you can to get a quiet Sa Calobra road.
I’m sure there is good mountain biking but I don’t know anything about it. But I’d guess it’s all very rocky.

Sa Batalla is a great descent too, although I would accept your point
@robz do you have that route logged anywhere? Sounds great.
opt for the tarmac, the roads are spectacular round there
I did Robz’ route last weekend, it’s a classic. Get up early to get to sa colobra before lunch buses and heat make it less fun if you can, I think it’s about 85km all up.
Another vote for Robz' route / AA's reversed suggestion in the link above, the climb to Lluc from Caimari is really nice and the Batalla descent is great fun. Definitely recommend the Formentor ride out to the lighthouse if you haven't done it before and get a chance. Not particularly long from Porto Pollensa but stunning views, however best check though as I know they were doing works to the road so the last few km were closed for a bit. Part way along from the Mirador de Es Colomer you can also add a little extra climb up to the Albercutx Watchtower which is worth it for the view.
Other than that La Bodeguita is a nice little tapas bar in PP set back a bit from the front.
I prefer to avoid the main Pollensa road on the way out and go via the backroads that go past the golf course. A little rough for a few meters but worth nice and quiet and scenic.
Also concur re tapas recommendation above - La Bodeguita - proper Spanish neighbourhood boozer/ tapas bar. If I recall Thursday night is the help yourself tapas night but they serve food every day.

That was my planned rout that day at the end but I was blowing a bit at the end and a faster group came past so I sat on their wheels. If the op does need a shorter ride just leaving out the Sa Calobra side section would be a good ride.

Yeah that’s my go to day 1 Mallorca route.
If you're heading out soon, careful of the roads, they are absolutely lethal after the faintest hint of rain. Seen a few mates come seriously unstuck over the last couple of weeks now the weather has turned.
If you intend to have a hire car - I did a half day off road ride with Tramuntana Tours out of Port de Soller a few years back that I’d recommend. The hire bikes they have are decent enough, I think it was a Trek Remedy I used. The dawn drive through the mountains from where I was just outside Pollenca to port de Soller was beautiful, took about an hour.
Thanks all, usefull stuff
