I'd like somewhere to stay in Keswick and I have searched for bike specific stuff but only found really old forum threads etc. so I'm starting a new one.

It's for myself and much better half. We need somewhere to park a van and lock up two muddy bikes for three nights at the end of the month. We've never been to Whinlatter or done the Borrowdale Bash so we'd like to tick them off. We'd also like to be walking distance from town rather than out in the sticks for access to hot food and drinks. Oh, and I know there's a pump track somewhere and I'm taking my jump bike specifically for a few laps!

Anyone got any up to date recommendations?

Cheers

We used The Skiddaw hotel a year or two back and after we sent an email request they let us lock our bikes up in a downstairs room that wasn't being used.
Last year we stayed at The Kings Arms Hotel which is next door to the Skiddaw, it's a smaller hotel so we just left our bikes overnight in the van in the car park behind the hotel.
Keswick isn't really known for crime.
Both hotels are right in the centre of town.
Keswick is fantastic for a bite to eat and a few beers.
Whinlatter is within riding distance, but i would recommend driving straight to the trailhead thus avoiding the boring Whinlatter Pass road climb.
Hope this helps

Borrowdale yh is brilliant, on the bash route (and perfect for better riding) and has some great food n pubs in walking distance.

+1 Borrowdale YHA if you're not after anything fancy. Basic stuff but it's pretty decent for a YHA and food okay, nice little bar.

Wifi doesn't work though and mobile signal is zero like most places round there.

theres a Youth hostel in keswick just along the river thats canny. we stayed there for 2 nights. Weve just booked Derewen****er youth hostel, only £118 for 2 nights between 3 of us. Its about 2 miles from keswick so either a 30 min walk into keswick or you can get a taxi which takes about 5 mins and only a few quid.
