Hello All,
I am looking to buy an MTB for my 10 year old boy as his 24" bike has just been stolen and I think he might be ready for a 26". He is 1m 48 so I am looking for advice on the size of frame or a decent make of bike. I was looking at 16" frames but not sure if that might be too big. It will get the usual lack of attention and abuse that only a 10 year old can deliver.
Thanks as ever

You'll find a number of 14" MTBs. On One sell the Inbred frame for £140 at the moment though this would mean you having to assemble a bike around it.
Druid,
Cheers. I was trying to stay away from building a complete bike as it will probably be more expensive depending on what is in the spares bin. Do you think 14" is the right size or could I get away withg 16"?

commencal make xs bikes

- my missus is 155 cm and rides one like it
Size is impossible to determine without a test ride IMO.
bikes exist from 13" up, get him on some in a shop.
I found the best route was searching 13in bikes on eBay. They're just small enough, and have a LOT of wiggle room upwards.
Gary fisher models often go down that far.
Islabikes, there's no contest: http://www.islabikes.co.uk/
....or if you're really on a budget, Decathlon.
Thanks everyone; some good research lines for me to pursue. Have been to a shop this morning and although there was nothing suitable it appears that a 16" bike would be ideal.
Cheers again.
