As above - anyone done? What’s the riding like (having seen it mentioned in a guide book)?
Is it as I suspect better for gravel riding bearing in mind a lot of minor Cypriot roads are unsealed?
I went around 2005 I think, was pleasant enough but I wouldn't describe it as full on. We rode some very nice balcon style paths around the big mountain (forget its name), great views and some interesting exposure but nothing I would describe as technical. Certainly not by modern standards. There was also some more open riding, tracks rather than paths. The sort of thing a gravel/rigid would be great on. Climbing then swooping down to the coast.
Bear in mind it was a long time ago now and I suspect more technical riding might have been sort out. What we did was more old style ATB stuff. It was November, not especially warm but not cold either
We went more recently, it's still the same 😞
I did a couple of days with Paul at Akamas MTB Tours in 2020. It was OK, but only OK. He's very risk averse (although I was never asked to sign any sort of disclaimer) but refused to swap the brakes from Euro to UK on the hire bike. I haven't bothered since.
Ha ha I googled akamas mtb tours and the pictures that came up were exactly the riding we did in 2005. Exactly. So I guess we did it all!
I’m surprised Cyprus bikes are set up Euro-style
I also did a ride with one of them years ago, basically a loop around the Mountain, very pleasant but not very challenging. I tried to persuade him to ride a nice looking path that me a the missus had walked down the day before but he wasn't up for it.
