MRP Noken - anyone used one? Simple Trutune alternative?

Can't believe I didn't know this existed but then I can't see it for sale in the UK.  I'm a 70kg sub average rider so long travel forks tend to ramp up more than I need/want.  Trutune cartridges are a great solution but I worry a little that they may degrade over time.  This MRP Noken appears to be a very simple alternative with very little to go wrong so long as I have clearance for the extra height on the fork leg.  Anyone tried one?

So many clearance issues with modern forks on bigger travel frames, I can't see that this has much of a particular window of opportunity amongst those who would benefit from it most!

I do like the idea though... Most modern forks do have far too progressive a main air spring as a result of longer travel, larger negative air springs etc... But it will be crucial to check if this will fit on your bike first!!!

I have one fitted to a 170mm travel Zeb. I have always struggled to get full travel with these forks, the noken has not really helped that much, only a slight change; seems like the ramp up in the lower legs is more significant.

I might try fitting the older air spring without the buttercups and see if that helps.

Ah, that's a shame.  Obviously not a huge volume to the Noken but I was hoping it was significant enough relative to the air spring size.  Hopefully my frame won't have enough clearance and I will be saved from the temptation to try one anyway

I see they offer a 'riser crown race' in 5mm and 10mm sizes to increase clearance but that is not a route I wish to take

Its a shame that TruTune seem to have disappeared because they really do work

Do we have any idea what's happened to them?

My suspicion is that they've got bought out by Fox or Sram and shut down their own operations, as they work so well - and it's such a simple solution compared to many suspension upgrades.

My guess is that there wasnt enough uptake. There were plenty of folk cryi g snake oil.

Glad I got mine when I did. I much prefer how my forks feel with them installed.

I know (light) people who’ve had their 38s significantly improved with the TruTune, so glad they’ve found a way to keep the product alive. I still can’t get my head around how it works though!

Considering the Noken myself for a 170mm Fox 36. Looks daft, but easy to understand!

Good to see TruTune resurface.  I can understand their product being hard to sell because I really can't grasp how it works, just know that it does.  It's also a bit tough for potential customers to be persuaded that they don't want tokens they want an anti-token.  I'm still tempted to see how the Noken compares

I'm tempted by a Trutune for my 38 as I don't think I've ever used full travel, £100 is a bit off-putting though for a glorified token. My other thought was the Grip2 damper upgrade but I guess that will be way more than I can justify!

I’m glad they’re coming back. I was thinking of getting one. Did we decide if they worked for heavier riders (85kg+) or just light riders

yep big improvement in 160mm lyrik i can up the pressure for more support, buttery smooth on fast chunder.

on my 140mm z2s its less pronounced benefit but still an improvement

In ride gear I'm over 100kg these days.  Works nice for me,  even though my air pressures are eyes popping.

Noken is a great idea and a visible extra air volume unlike Trutune which you can't actually see (it's all theory, plus how long will it be effective). I already have Trutune and it's like taking out one more token. I nearly ordered a Noken from the States until I realised that it has no nub to fit the Trutune to. In other words it's one or the other.

Oh that's cool about Trutune coming back, thanks for sharing Kimbers.

Might want to get one for my 38 Performance in a while. It's nowhere near as progressive as my Zeb, but could still benefit I'm sure.

I have a Trutune on my Lyrik Ultimate and Fox 38 Performance Elite, I wasn’t completely happy with either fork until the Trutune went in, so I’m glad to hear they are back, they are brilliant! 🙂

So... is ordering from the USA the only way to get the Noken?
