Bike has developed a creaky BB so rang Halfords local store and was told that even though its under a year old, it is a moving part so it is not under warranty. Odd as its a bike that moves.

I think they've used stupid phrasing - usually service items like bearings aren't covered as they will always fail at some point, like brake pads, tyres etc.

I did get a BB out of Halfords once, but I did have to snap it in half to do so.

No need to be facetious, just makes you look stupid.

It sounds like they are claiming it's a consumable item, which it is, but the creaking won't be caused by wear, just poor installation or dry threads.

Unless there's a clear manufacturing defect or the warranty expressly says otherwise bearings are a service item and not covered. Same for brake pads or tyres.

Life is too short to worry about a £10 part.
