I have a set of planet X overshoes that did me pretty well last year but they are very tatty and not that warm or dry any more.

They are to cover size 47 shimano mountain bike spd shoes. I only use then on the road bike. I use MTB shoes as I find it much easier to walk if the back roads offer something I can ride over, thick mud / ice and also getting into work is less hazardous.

I have looked at the Endura MT500 but peoples recommendation is to go up a size but I am on the cusp of XXL anyway.

I do need them to be relatively easy to get on and off as I will commute in these.

Ideally I would have more in the way of reflective material than the MT500 offers.

Coming from the road version I was expecting great things from the Endura MT500 but I found them to be pretty crap for MTB. The toes kept on popping off the front of my shoes, they moved around a bit so wrecked my cranks (well superficialy scuffed hell out of them) and the underside got holes in them nearly instantly.

Personaly I'd save for winter boots which work, are less hassle and will be paid for by the replacement of worn out overboots.

"Endura MT500 but peoples recommendation is to go up a size"

"The toes kept on popping off the front of my shoes,"

these two comments are related.

i have NEVER had the toes come up on my mt500s - ive killed a few sets - strathpuffer does that to over shoes but nothing excessive. i view them as a consumable for the season.

Not had much luck with MT500s myself, the zip is too fragile.

now thats a whole different kettle of fish.

the old school mt500s were far better than the latest.

Weird stuff. I love my MT500s, I'm on my second pair now. But mine are not "oversized" - they require a bit of "uh... oh..." when putting them on, but then they are great.

I just bought some BBB heavy duty overshoes from CRC and, although I've only done a couple of commutes, they seem to be decent. Easier to get into than my previous Planet X ones and seem tougher. I went for a medium size to go over size 39 Shimano MTB SPD shoes (MT33s I think) and the overshoes are a smidge too big but the toes are staying on and I think a small would have been too small.

PX Flanders overshoes won't fit over size 45 MW81. 🙁

I've got an old set of the red shimano leather DH boots for winter duties.
I'll only ever use overshoes on the road now, too much pissing about with zips and stuff.
