I can get some of the new tread design Conti Mountain King 2's from a friend for a good price but only the standard rubber (i.e. not the Black Chilli compound).
Anyone have exerience of these and how easily they go tubeless? Are the walls a bit on the porous side?
Is the standard compound OK? Or would folk suggest the BlackChilli is worth it?

They are for mostly Peak riding through winter and beyond.

Not had experience of mk2's but i've been using conti mtn king 2.2 supersonics tubeless for 5 years. Had some Speed king supersonic 2.1's too. Walls are porous to start with but will seal ok. I'm pretty light and tend to skip over stuff rather than plough thru but running at 35psi they have been fine. Riding has been mainly local Yorkshire trails, Peak District and Dalby, ocassional Wales and Scotland. Hope this helps

Thanks teeamslug. I had tried the original MK's (non-black chili) a while back and didn't get on with them. I wasn't sure if it was more to do with the tread pattern or the compound. Are the supersonics black chili?

I found the same re porous walls with sealing fine after much shaking. Had some burp issues but I've now got Stans rims so hope that will be less of an issue with any tyres I try from now on.
