Ed oxley at great rock, sound as a pound, really good teaching style, non patronising and really good at pitching his coaching at the right level. I drove up from Cornwall for the weekend for my course and it was well worth the trip.

As you've put "ideally" and not "must be" in Yorkshire, Jedi is the only man to go see

Ant @ trailmotions.co.uk is pretty sound, based around Gisburn (which he knows like the back of his hand as he's also helped build a lot of it).

Ed Oxley of Greatrock. I haven't personally used him, but wor lass did. Hes changed her riding, giving her much more confidence, riding better lines, faster and smoother. She loved it. Highly recommended from both of us

I did the Flow weekend with Stevede and really enjoyed it. It gave me a proper understanding of Pump and why I need it because it turns out that you use it everywhere..!
The weekend transformed my mates (not Stevede, he's already sickenly good) riding. He is a really confident snowboarder but was struggling to find the same confidence on his bike. Ever since then he has hit every techy line, drop or roll.

And ProRideGuides took another mate (in half a day) from dangerous try owt to Chainless Challenge winner.

Perhaps we need a sticky for this. Where would one go to in the north of Scotland, for example?

I did a one to one with Jedi that was beneficial now contemplating jumps and drops as my riding drops still suffers, have put any thought into what he needs to get out of the session. I found grip and better cornering improved my riding but then realised drop offs step downs still worry me.

Like the look of Great Rock myself... I think I may have to go on a few of his courses! Is the Level 1 worth doing as a starting point to iron out bad habits or just go in at Level 2 or higher (been riding for years, but since I am solo a lot I tend err on the side of caution much of the time!)

Also - anywhere in the South Lakes worth considering as an alternative (Gisburn isn't *that* far away, but it is nice to have options!)

Ant (Trailmotions.co.uk) also covers south lakes, he lives Lancaster way. I've done basic courses with him and Ed (Great Rock), course content was very similar and doing Ed's course first he certainly significantly improved my riding but I personally preferred Ant's teaching style.

Oooh Trail Motions could be handy since he uses Grizedale (15 minutes drive) and Stavely (30 minutes drive)...

Going to look into something in the New Year I think. I need to get these drops/manuals/hops things nailed better! My rusty skills have been highlighted by being confined to a hardtail of late!

I used The Bike School at Cannock earlier this year. A chap called Adam took us. We had a great time and leaned alot. It's also good to review the basics too a it's amazing how many bad habits you fall into.

Don't forget Bob from Campbell Coaching. Really professional, progressive and lots of detailed feedback. Check his site/vids to see what I mean. He has cake as well as tea/coffee as well as a Cd with your video footage delivered post session. You can't go wrong with Ed, Jedi or Dirtschool.
