There is a proposed Mountain bike centre of excellence being planned for Yorkshire (Woodside cycle centre) . Catering for CX as well they seem to be race and training orientated (rather than a trail centre). Some of their stated aims are:

Permanent features to include steps, bridges, commissaires cabin, timing staff cabin, hurdles, off cambers, toilet & shower block and more.
The venue will ALWAYS be FREE for any 'would be' race organiser to use for their various races.
The venue will provide FREE toilets, showers, jetwash facilities.
The venue will do its utmost to help and support Ride for Charlie, EVO DEVO and British Cycling - offering these organisations our full support at all times.

Sounds like an interesting project.

They have a facebook page.  Definitely looks more like a permeant CX course /venue than anything "mountainbike" .  But maybe they have further plans.

Looks interesting, especially when you look at the cost breakdown of running a CX event posted by one of the CC's involved.  The venue hire itself is fairly cheap but then all the other stuff (car parking, toilets, course prep) soon adds up so having a permeant venue makes sense.

A bit like MX tracks I guess.  I did actually ask a local MX club/track if we could use their venues to host an SSUK, but surprisingly they didn't actually have the facilities to host that number of people. Shame because as well as the comedy aspect of using the big track as a climb (it's in a valley and runs back and forth perpendicularly, so it's an absolute wall of a muddy bank to get up!) they have quite a long and varied Enduro loop with lots of singletrack.

If it's anything like the one DMBINS setup at Glentress, it'll be as useful as a chocolate teapot

What was that then? I don't recall DMBInS ever setting up something like this, but happy to be corrected.

There's an XCO race scheduled there for July which doesn't really make much sense with the space available.
