Oruxmaps is very good but depends what you want to use it for...I used it purely as a tracker for where I'd been so it was excellent, very accurate with no drop-off issues or loss of signal. It could do a huge amount more though i.e. use it for directional alerts if you were following an actual track.

I'm in the process of helping test a new app from Map My Tracks for Android call OutFront (it's already available for the iPhone) - does very similar stuff to Strava/Endomondo/Sports Tracker but for another site...it has also proved very good so far but is only used as a logger for the trail you are riding.

I have Endomondo/Strava and Sports Tracker on my phone but don't use them...will remove them I think...

Maps from Google is ok for a satellite view of where you are but it relies on a data connection - unless you download the area to the device beforehand - this was still in beta when I used it last but it worked very well.

Check out ViewRanger. Good for tracking rides. It allows you to select from various maps to overlay tracks on, open cycle map being one of them. Also allows uploading of GPX files.

Forgot to say, Oruxmaps is free and it also ha a map creator which allows you to select map detail and then download it to the device for offline usage i.e. going away for a week to a new location, you could create various maps of the area and get them whilst there without needing a data connection...it is a very feature-packed app but does take a wee bit of time to get your head round it all.

i find Endomondo really good, particularity looking back at a ride from the website gives you so much info and data.
