I’m looking at fitting a fiamma pro 2 rack to a Motorhome but a bit concerned the bars may be too wide to avoid hitting the van without twisting  the bars. Any experience of this please? The rack can be adapted to carry 4 bikes so could perhaps be fitted further outboard. Would I need extended clamps for this. I will only be carrying 2 bikes.

For us, it depends which bike is on the rack....a road bike is fine, my MTB isn't, it takes about 30 seconds to turn the bars before putting the bike on the rack..then another 30s at the other end. I'd rather do that than have the bike further out on the rack

Can you do that without having to adjust the headset or does the start fangled nut adjustment stay put?

We have a Fiamma bike rack on motorhome and have to rotate the bars of all the bikes. It's a bit worse than that even; as hubs have got wider we can't get four boost width bikes on the back together and the larger bikes are a bit long for the rails. 3.0 tyres don't fit in the straps so I have to bungee those on.Writing this makes me realise I should probably do something about it!

We've only had the moho for 18 mths and used the rack half a dozen times...not had to adjust the star nut as yet but again...it is a 30 second job so to me at least, a non problem.

We had a Fiamma on a hire bus. I used slots 2 + 4 for the bikes, and still use slots 1 & 3 on our Thule. This have clearance from bus and no interference between bikes.

Check the length of the wheel carriers too. My gnar trail bike has a wheelbase that is too long for my rack. I've made some extensions for it.

Ours go in the garage but as Matt says going with a four bike rack gives the most flexibility. Just remember when the bikes are on it.

Not like the German guy in the pitch at the side of us in Finale who forgot and put his rack and bikes through the bonnet and windscreen of the van in the opposite pitch. We saw it happening but didn't manage to stop him in time. Not a good start to his holiday.

Might be a daft question, but isn't there enough room inside? Motorhomes are usually quite large

Just make sure that you have enough room for extra beers

The boot is 870 wide so there is room in the boot but I may have to take the front wheel out to manoeuvre it through the door which is 600 wide. Boots tend to get full with chairs/table/barbie/beer etc so a Carrier may be needed at times.

If you are carrying 2 bikes, put the 1st bike on, secure rear wheel and top tube to rack fitment but don't strap the front wheel, it will naturally twist out due to the bars clearing the back of the van. Put bike 2 on as normal, strap frame and both wheels, then twist the front wheel of bike 1 so that it contacts the rear wheel of bike 2 then bungee the two wheels together, this twists the bars enough hopefully to clear the back of your van i've done this for years works really well.
