Wiggle gave the camelback charge protector vest on sale for like £55 at the moment. I bought one (watched too many remy metailler videos on YouTube) but after some faffing realised it was just a crap version of my running vests and I had too many packs anyway.
You can buy a fully rated pliable d30 back protector for motorbikes for £15. Anyone got any experience in squeezing one of these into a camelbak slot?
Can't answer your question, but you've now got me wondering if one will fit in my Evoc pack (as they don't seem to sell them separately)...
Looks like Leatt do ones for their hydration packs which might be worth a look too.
Back protector in my Evoc is level 2
I guess as it’s D30 (and £16.99) you could just trim it to fit.
If I’d known you could buy the insert for that cheap I’d have tried it years ago or just bought one and got the wife to make me a back protector vest.
Can you buy knee pad inserts cheap like that as well?
We've a Scott and a Evoc pack with back protectors in.
I would have though any back protector that would really make a difference would not fit in a camelback pocket. the one I have certainly would not. It extends from my neck to my coccyx and across from kidney to kidney. Its built into my motorbike jacket
I would have thought also one that in a camelback would move around too much?
I also ride a motorbike and have a back protector in two jackets and they are large and the jackets keep them in place to make sure there is coverage in the event if an off.
Also have an Evoc pack with a protector in too and has very little movement when wearing keeping the pad in place.
That is the main and important thing. Would your camelbak stay in place in a tumble? If it's not where it's supposed to be when needed it's useless.
