Been trying to think of locok pubs but gave up. Certainly looks secure. and heavy. Very bloody heavy. THink the putative thief might just cut through the cable / chain, perhaps?

Good luck with that, think how thick the chain links will be...
Early winner for the 2020 April Fool list.
It's not solid, it's a composite outer with a normal sized core. I'm also willing to bet the lock will be the weak point.
It's about 13lbs apparently. About half the weight of a decent MTB - I assume it's better for home security than being portable.
That is very true kingofsquirrels.

As above, the decent disc detainers from the likes of kryptonite at least make picking the lock a couple of minutes by someone competent, if they've just stuck in a cheap one then it would ruin the whole lock.
When I see a bike with multiple locks on like in that pic fasthaggis posted - but not so extreme - I often have the urge to add a lock of my own. And then find somewhere to sit with a drink and wait for the owner to return.
One day when I have £550K I may try it. Or find a nice bike with just one lock and add about 50 more.
You could add your own lock(s) to a nice bike. Then take your time cutting away at the owners lock. If anyone challenges you just show them the other locks and keys and claim you just lost one key or snap one off in the original lock.
I bet some scrote has already tried this.
I had a stupid big chain going through my frame and ground anchor. The thieves just cut through the frame !! They Still had forks wheels ect, ect to sell 🙁🙁
It's a tried and tested way to steal. The scum also put superglue in locks so the owner cannot undo the bike and the scum can spend time cutting all the locks off. I think at lighter can melt superglue, so maybe worth carrying with you.

That is scarily simple,devious gits.
Used to see locked bikes in London with the rear wheel booted out of shape.
Owner can't take it home and returns next day to find a stripped down frame.

This. The University campus security would come and cut your lock for you if you lost your key. They also sold £5 bike locks. My house at uni got more and more brutal with practical jokes, and we worked out the only proof security needed was a photo of the bike unlocked (or just locked somewhere else) so I would occasionally find my housemates bike locked up and get security to cut it off for me, and ride away and leave it at the house. The progressed to me buying another £5 lock from the van there and then and just locking the bike up with the new lock in exactly the same location. Was bloody hilarious getting the sweary phone call saying campus security had just refused to cut their bike off as they'd already cut the same bike 40 minutes earlier.

Common way to steal bikes.
Owner can't take it home. Thief can return at a quieter time with the tools to get through the lock. Pull up in a van in the middle of the night, get through the lock with an industrial angle grinder and be away in literally seconds before anyone has even clocked it going on. You can do a dozen bikes that way in no time. Spend the day walking round putting locks on them, come back with a van and some heavy cutting gear.
Depressing.
