Will be riding out of staveley tomorrow. First time in the lakes for a long time so looking forward to it. Was planning on sticking with the familiar stuff as I've only mtb'd twice since lock down (maybe 3 times) and not been in ages so will enjoy it
I'm just looking at the map though and thinking about ticking off the mosedale cottage loop, heading up from sadgill, then looping round and coming back up gatescarth.
Is it horrendous, is it rideable, is it ridiculous/too tech walk down in places etc!? Is it worth it!!?
I'm only wanting to tick it off as something different really and this might be the driest chance!
Also, is it easy to navigate?
ridden it a couple of times. coming from the east it is ok up to the cottage on the track, not the bridleway, which is or was wet tussock type stuff. the route you are looking at takes the wet tussocky way.
from the cottage down to the sadgill track, is wet most of the time. down a hillside where the track is/ was quite indistinct.
If you've done everything else in the area it's an ok ride. There's better riding in the vicinity of stavely though
