Driving down with a mate on 16th August for a week or so. It will be our first time.

Ideally we'd like to stay somewhere a bit lively if possible and we'd like to ride wherever the biggest jumps, gaps, drops are and proper DH. Obviously we can travel around a bit as will have the car but would like it to not be hours of driving every day.

Will both have 170 mm enduro bikes so also keen to do some really long singletrack descents, off-piste

If it’s air time you’re after then you should be going to Chatel rather than Morzine

As above - make your way across to Chatel for all the big stuff (Vink Line, Air Voltage) but stay in Morzine for resort vibes and post ride beers.

Stay in Morzine, it's the busiest place and easiest to get back to at the end of the day.

Around Morzine you have
Mont Chery - Airline trail
Les Gets - Black under Nauchettes lift
Super Morzine black

Then over to Chatel for the bigger stuff

Awesome! Are any of the past contest slopestyle courses available to ride? If not is it possible to rebel run them anyway?

I don't know the OP, but it seems like he's a bit of a freerider.

Otherwise I'd be thinking "this isn't going to end well" How many riders I've seen go out "I only ride double black mate" and return after a run bleeding and wearing a thousand yard stare..

Anyway, stay in Morzine, one of the MTB hotel if there are any rooms left, or just close to the centre. It's downhill from most places which is a real bonus if you miss the last lift or weather closes them. I'm sure you'll find enough air.

its worth baring in mind that by this point in the season most of the tracks in portes du soleil region will be haggered, with loads and loads of braking bumps. Expect to get fairly beaten up on enduro bikes.

The bigger tracks suffer a little less from this. Chatel has a lot of big stuff, as does les gets bike park. There were some big hits on the hill under super morzine lift, not sure if they're still there (been a few years since I was over that side).

I've never seen anyone on the slopestyle course other than when practice/competition is on, its a very significant step bigger than anything else in the region, and probably anything in the UK that I've seen, other than perhaps the quarry lines that aren't open in Revs.
