The morons leaving these traps need to be made an example of in the courts, along the lines of attempted murder.

I was thinking the same thing this morning. I don't think I'd ever seen a pic of one of those nail traps until about 12 months ago. Now this is the second one I've seen today. Although what kind of individual sees a photo of one and thinks "great idea! Much better than the neck-height wire I was going to string up between a couple of trees" doesn't bear thinking about.
Its happening near Lampeter, Ceredigion too (again) over last week or two.

I think (or at least hope) the publicity gets people out on the trails and a people presence deters the lowlife who do these things.
Apart from an all day stake out I am thinking motion trap cameras are the way forward. Avoids direct confrontation with these idiots, provides evidence to aid prosecution etc.
Something similar to the above was found on a trail near Worcester this week.
The FOD ranger put some motion cameras out as they were ge5ing stuff left on trails there. It got stolen 😥
All we can do is report anything we find and hope we don't get caught in one, until the police take these seriously and get an arrest the idiots will carry on doing it.
Im fairly sure this could be defined as terrorism under the Terrorism Act

If you ride over a nail board on your bike you'll come to a stop a few hundred metres away with a flat tyre. Even if you crashed because of the puncture you'd land down the trail from the nails. It's the people and animals on foot who are most likely to be hurt by this stuff.
Dogs seem to have little sense of how dangerous glass is under foot (the problem in my local woods). Nails, unless disguised are usually highly visible when high up on a bike and likely more dangerous to runners walkers and horses.
