Ordered the 5p socks this afternoon. Once the order was processed charged me £2.99.

Never again. Bunch of cowboys that can't be trusted.

Were they actually intended to be leg warmers, poorly made and reimagined as socks?

I had to make shims from drinks cans to get them to fit properly.*

To add some balance, I ordered three pairs of the 5p socks and was charged 5p a pair plus about £3 postage.

Seems a bargain to me as they're pretty good socks.

Posted 5 minutes ago

No I didn't expect free postage. It was £2.99 a pair plus postage.

Anyway, I consider it to be mis-selling.

Hello Mr Torch

Did the basket show £0.05p when you checked out? There was a limited quantity at 5p, and then it revised to £2.99 when sold through.

It sold through very fast. Probably because I'm a dickhead and chose the wrong sock for the promo as I thought we had about 500prs of large and 200prs of small, but it was the other way round.

Plus we over sold the 5p socks in some cases, and we're sending people who aren't going to get some Coolmax "rainbow bands" socks plus a free pair of KOM socks to say sorry.

If you pass me your sales order number, I'll get your order looked at.

That’s odd. There weren’t any 5p socks when I placed an order last night and I can’t see any 5p socks now either.

WHERE ARE MY FIVE PEE SOCKS DAMNIT

Edit: oh, they’ve been and gone

https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CLPXSOCOOLKOM/planet-x-coolmax-kom-socks

These are going to be 5p next. Not sure if it's tonight or not as the site went crackers and over sold about 80prs because it's stupid.

Though not as stupid as me for picking the wrong stock line to promote.

Oh and whilst I'm here, there are going to be some daft seat pack + stove + stuff bundles coming up soon.

OK - these are now https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CLPXSOCOOLKOM/planet-x-coolmax-kom-socks

I've just looked and the socks that were previously 5p appear in my basket at full price now the price has reverted. So it is possible you added at 5p, then when you got to checkout they were full price. But checkout would show that.

A big thank you to the OP, even though he's a total no bed. I've just ordered 3 pairs of socks for £4.14. Even if they are rubbish they have got to be worth that sort of money.

So are there any more threads rubbishing bargains?

I ordered 5 pairs of these socks last week at full price, £1.49 I think, they aren't rubbish at all, really good actually. I also ordered a full Monty sl from them for a grand today, I hope that's good too.

3pr in total.

I won't be wasting my 5 pence on socks that are provided in only two different size options for all shoe sizes, thank you very much. I bet they grip too tightly around the ankles as well, leaving horrendous indentations on the skin. Disgusting.

Damn you OP! I've just spent 50 quid on stuff at PlanetX. The site limited my basket to 3 pairs of those rip off 5p socks that the silver tongued Brant linked to. Should I complain in another thread and create even more business for this terrible comapany?

It would only be actual genius if Brant had created the OP account himself, started the thread, argued with himself about when he signed up to the site, and sorted out his own order to his own satisfaction before coming back later to say his five pee socks had arrived and they were lovely after all 🙂

I dunno, I admire the ambiguity of it. I orginally came here thinking it was referring to the array of cheap titbits that you inevitably add to your basket whenever you're buying a pair of cheap tyres. (Folding spork and some tiny allen keys on a keyring? No, I wasn't aware I needed them either, but hey.)

He was too late to the party to get his socks at the silly 5p price.
Moans about it here before speaking with PX it seems.
Brant turns up and offers to sort it personally.
No thanks given.
He then ****s off.

Ive got a few pairs of their socks at full price, well happy.
In fact, i've been happy with every single OO/PX item I have. Frames, bikes, a bike fit, tyres, clothing and some odd stuff that I never needed. Hats off.

As an aside, the socks I got from Brant’s other enterprise are some of the best I’ve ever had. But they didn’t cost 5p. Or £2.99.

Complain to Brant I'm pretty sure he'll refund the 15p from his own pocket, as per previous threads.

I'm also annoyed that I've had to place not one, not two, but six orders with PX so far this year - all for stuff that's significantly better value than anywhere else. I'm so angry I'm shaking.

I've only recently starting buying from Planet X and I haven't been disappointed yet. Why am I being singled out?

I've bought a few things from the flash sales, but yesterday the postie brought a really nice pair of leather, 1940's style cycling gloves for our trip to the Velo Retro festival in Ulverston next month. They were £8 and they look and feel really good. Can't wait to see how they look on with my Plus Fours. The same order came through with one of those Planet X 'enduro' helmets. I planned to use it as a backup / night riding helmet, but the build quality and fit is excellent, all for £15??

I fancy the same helmet in the reflective 'colour', reckon that'll be better for night riding, but it appears to be out of stock...and now I've just spotted the short finger version of those leather gloves. Think I might be shopping there again!

I ended up with some socks, a tyre for the commuter and a load of random stuff I didn't need for less than I would have paid for a new Schwable G-one.

I think they should have a lucky dip option though, £5 or something and they'll just throw in a folding mug/spork or something more expensive - Obviously you don't get to find out what it is until it's delivered.

@jairaj - yes, I have the Pro-Line 365 X bib shorts. Really comfy, liked them so much I bought another pair. They're excellent.

But then so are the socks. And the base layers. And my Inbred. And my 15 quid Trail Boss.

etc etc.

Love Planet X me, never had a bad experience, loads of bargains over the years.

My stuff arrived today. Not bad for a yesterday-morning order.

Had to chuckle at this item, though:

https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TOJO11KRT/jobsworth-11-function-keyring-tool

According to the description, the allen keys are "6mm, 5mm, 4mm, 3mm, 2.5mm"… er… no. How about 4, 5, 6, 7 (WTF?!) and 8mm. And the hex hole in the inner part is misshapen so the weird "fell out of an electric screwdriver box" Philips bit doesn't fit. And there's a sort of tiny Torx thing which doesn't look like it'd fit anything. The spoke keys and screwdrivers work though.

On the plus side of the Planet X Win-Some-Lose-Some Bargain Coin, however, the bar tapes turned out to be a perfect match for the paint I was hoping to match 🙂

Right… anyone got a 7mm allen bolt need tightening? 😀

Awful awful service here too 😀
Less than 24hrs since placing my order and it's arrived.
Stocked up on 5p socks and other bits to finish the Stooge build.
Even Yodel gave me correct and acurate timeline.
Thanks for the PSA OP- not ordered from P-x in ages.
We can't be having this 😛

As part of the Planet X love in, maybe Brant or someone else can tell what differences I'd notice between the standard and SL versions of the London Road.

At 5'7" I am between sizes for Small and Medium. Mainly be used for commuting and a bit of gravel, so would the medium be a better option?

Promise to buy some 5p socks too.

I got some rigid forks, bullmoose bars and funky brown tyres to turn my old Gringo into a sorta touring bike, all for 150 quid. It all came when it was meant too as well. Didn’t get any 5p socks though so will never use this bunch of scoundrels again.
