I have so much left in the shed that I'm looking for a cheap HT frame for the kid before he snaps my carbon XC frame. (Basically at least 1x bike minus frame, stems, bars,BB, drivechains, brakes)
It's as much general purpose / jumps / aggressive HT idea so will be a huge compromise anyway and motivated around reusing what I have and maintaining compatibility.

What I have specifically are some 26" non boost wheels and 27.5" non boost pikes (130/140/160 air shafts), a 27.5 front wheel plus hub + spokes I intend to build into a 27.5 HG wheel when I find a cheap 28H rim.

(essentially all 15x100/12x142) though I could convert the rear 26" wheel to 135 it would cost money and prevent switching wheels round as the other hub can't be converted.

Ideally I reckon I'm looking for a 2015/16 era trail HT with fashionable short chainstays that just squeeze in a (by 2020 standards) narrowish 27.5 tyre?

Open to thoughts ... or suggestions or anyone with a frame knocking about?

I'll have a M Whyte 901 that'll be pretty cheap going soon. However, it does have a fair few scuffs etc and there's some quite significant rub on the inside of the chainstays.
Long tt, good reach, 67ish HA, and a blast to ride.
If the hub's a Hope I may have some 135 qr end caps as well.

Sounds good.... though looking towards a small really as he's sub 5' but more worried about seatstay length (probably).
I had some absolute blasts on the 901 which ultimately led me to buy a T-130 (yeah I know).
Loved everything about the T-130 apart from being hit in the ass and only just being able to squeeze a 125mm dropper (I'm just under 5'11" but 29" inside leg)

Assuming the rub is cosmetic wouldn't bother me....

It's a Novatech hub.... but built onto some 26" Spank Race 28 rims... which so far proved bombproof with him. I could convert it but then he'd not be able to swap wheels which is all part of my mad plan.

What year is it? I just want to check seatube lengths really...

It's a 2016. The main reason It'll be really cheap is the chainstay rub didn't look too pleasant last time I looked, but it was dark, and I was changing a tube on a dog egged tyre. I'll get photos and properly assess and send them over, but tbh I think it's way too big for him! I'm about 179cm and it's dead comfy for me, but iirc about a 447 reach/630 tt.

Cheers submarined.... I reckon you're right.
He currently has an ETT of 580 and Reach of 411 on his full suss.

Whereby that's fine for tech/DH and he rides my main bike at 620/449 he can't chuck it about which is half the point of the HT idea.
