Ok so I am considering a mod to my 2017 Mondraker Dune. These bikes suffer from lots of friction in the suspension action due to the linkage design which causes excessive bush rotation at both ends of the shock through the stroke. The ideal solution would be to fit eyelet needle bearings instead of bushes. My Liteville 301 uses these and is extremely plush.
Only problem is Mondraker (in their infinite wisdom) use 10mm mounting hardware instead of 8mm or 6mm and this is not compatible with eyelet bearings as there is too little space.
So my idea is...
Get some 8mm eyelet bearings (assuming I can get the correct length) from enduro bearings link
Buy some new bolts (In case I screw up - don't want to wreck the ones I have) link
Get my friend to machine these down to 8mm at one end on his lathe (just the bit the bearing will sit on and the threads.
Tap some 8mm threads
(This is the bit Im not sure about)
Get some sort of thread insert for the linkage M10 to M8. Maybe this link
Not sure if that would work? Would it need to be epoxied in?
What do you think?
