Greetings pub riders. As Harry has swanned off on some bloody course or other, (I think it was thai massage techniques) it falls to me to do the honours.

And its looking like spring has sprung. Boing! its actually stopped raining, and the suns popped out. So we'll be trying a new exotic venue. I know... mad eh? Mintimerial will be guiding us around his manor. No doubt under crystal clear blue skies, in lovely spring warmth and sunshine. Count on it

Usual 8.15 kick off...

Yep, guaranteed 100% sunny, even at quarter past eight at night. Although if it does wee it down then it's a pretty solid route even in crap conditions... 🙂

Oh, just in case anyone's worried, the start point is only ten minutes easy drive off the motorway in the opposite direction to the Wine Press, so if you can make it to the Littleborough rides I reckon you can make it to this one too.

Oooh been wanting to go round there for ages. Nice one! Proper six fingers and toes country round there though so everyone needs to put on their best gruff northerner accents.

And +1 on it being only 10 mins off the motorway from the Milnrow junction.

The propsed route would look something like this!

Just up the road, would be rude not to.

Keep this up and we'll have done a fair chunk of the PBW just on MNPRs. Maybe we should knit it all together sometime on a weekend ride?

What would be the view on a CX bike for this?

You could do it on a CXer I suppose, but the descents are fairly rocky, quite cut up from winter, and best taken at speed so for preference I'd use a real bike of some description. 😉

Sounds like a plan.

I'll have my bike fixed by then and it isn't forecast to rain!

Ooooh, can I come as it's just round the M60 from me?

You've seen my mad skillz at a couple of BMX nights, but as it'll be my first MNPR outdoor ride go easy on me 😉

Does the route best suit a 160mm Gnarpoon FS or a 100mm XC FS?

Of cousre, the more the merrier! The first hill's a bit fierce but once that's got you warmed up it's a nice steady ride, and we don't drop people on MNPRs. Bikewise just ride whatever you fancy, it's all good.

Sorry mate. Bit short on hills round that way, also kind of a long drive...

I might come.
Proutster, this will only be my second MNPR and I can confirm they don't drop people.
Not a very social bunch while riding though, no one spoke much when I went out*

*which was undoubtedly due to the ferocious sideways hail that was ripping our faces to shreds**

**aaaaaa...fond memories of my inaugural MNPR from the White House!

Yeah sorry about that, definitely a function of the weather that night. Although to be fair, if we weren't a little socially awkward we wouldn't be on here all day!

Come out when Binners is out, he's quite chatty. 🙂

Ooops. I'll try to be chattier this time! It was certainly towards the character-building end of the scale, that ride, and I think we were a bit heads-down-get-it-over-with for some reason. Probably we were worried about the pub shutting early. 😉

blimey we're not that choosy or enlightened 🙂 all joking aside there are all kinds of bikes and the only proper rule is that no-one gets left behind (as well as Bring Money for Beer ) so what ever you bring will work

Yeah, but they still run out to point at low flying aircraft in that neck of the woods.

Who is out then?

My bike has been fixed and I've got some fancy new lights, so I'll be there.

Assuming I'm not in a police cell following a crazed biro-attack on various work colleagues, I'll be there.

Binners is not coming so someone remember to talk to the new guy 🙂

Should be.
I'll be the one no one is speaking to!
It happens all the time tbh, folk don't seem to like associating with someone who only rides with one fork leg!

I'm happy to talk, when I am not gasping for breath on the hills.

I blame constantly dropping off the back on my complete inability to stop talking bollocks, and concentrate on riding instead.

Well... that and being a fat bastard 😀

Talk to me, I’ll be on a Cannondale too. A shiny one because I’ve washed it.

I wouldn't worry about it. If somebody who has been a hundred times turns up in a new jacket or helmet it causes confusion.

Every week is like the first day at big school for me.
