After the multiple no shows last week due to being soft, birthday cake and bad weather shall we try again?

The Wine Press OL15 0AZ
8:15 blast off
Bring beer money

Binners should be joining us, but due to him being a naughty boy he has been banished to the “netherspace” for a week. He has however made contact from the other side…

…to remind everyone that there is additional free parking in the visitor’s centre just op the road from the pub.

...I'm getting something from beyond.

Does anyone in the room know a man who like his pies, lives in the hills and makes jokes on cycling forums that sometimes get mis understood?

I'll be there this time. Been a total lazy sod this week. Has Binners been banned? What's going on there then?

Please let this be a pootle.

So no racing round the lake at the end then like last time?

I'm back!

It's grim as owt on top of Blackstone Edge so I'm going to suggest that if we have any more rain between now and Monday, that we stick to the usual trails lower down.

And binners (if you are out there) you definitely do that route in the wrong direction! 😉

Just been over there too, bregante. I am a certain shade of 'Moorland brown', right now!

I must have been a little behind you as I was following fresh tire tracks here and there. Were you in a yellow top, by any chance?

I was in a very "enduro" green top. I rode in the opposite direction to my preferred route so climbed up from Piethorne to Ripponden Road and then over Blackstone Edge from the M62 footbridge direction if that makes sense. (AKA the binners or "wrong" way round). Got back to my car at the visitors a centre around 1245. The only person I saw out was a fell runner and somewhat embarrassingly I never caught the bugger up! 🙂

Bregante's tracks are easy to spot. Tire tracks for 200 yards and then large holes made from shoulders etc hitting the ground. If you look closely there will be small holes where his thumb penetrates the mud... 😀

I was just crossing the m62 at the top of Rakewood as you were heading up the other side of the valley to the crossroads. Was very quiet today

I'd like to see you spot them on Monday night without any lights sunshine!

And at least you have faced up to the fact that you will always be behind me 😀

Loving the colour coordinated mud guards on your bike mate. How are you getting on with the floral saddle?

Who is having it then?

According to The Met Office the weather should be dry with winds at 13 mph gusting to 25 mph.

Have fun. I'm not allowed out to play in the mud for the next few weeks for medical reasons. 🙁

The doctors assure me it's the only effective treatment. But as a weird side effect I can now see without specs, which is pretty cool...

I'm down in the land of shandy and chips without gravy, so that's me out i'm afraid.

On the plus side, it's warm, and not raining.

I'm in. Still annoyed at last weeks pathetic MTFU fail (although In hindsight a good thing seeing as no one else turned up) so tonight I'm uber-determined not to let cold wet feet get the better of me.

I'm in. Hopefully I'm now sufficiently recovered from the lurgy that had me on the verge of passing out on Thursdays ride.

I'm in. Terrahawk should be there also. Not sure if he's selling merchandise or doing autographs though.

Just looked out the window. Before I leave home tonight I think I'll check on here first just to make sure everyone else hasn't dropped out with some spurious excuse 🙂

On the plus side it looks like I'll have a massive tailwind on the ride home.

Did you do mordor? Did anyone die? I succumbed to a massive bout of oooooooo-look-the-footballs-on-and-the-nice-warm-pub-is-open-itis

No mordor. It was muddy enough on the hardpack bits that we rode. Couple of punctures (tubeless again but not mine)

I suspect the only thing that died last night binners was a little part of your own self respect. 🙂

I was blowing out of my arse last night with the remnants of a cold. I assume that everyone had a good time as I couldn’t tell from inside my own little bubble of misery.

Somewhere easy next week then eh… How about Todmorden?

I used to skip rides to watch footy. But being a NUFC supporter soon put a stop to that.

Was bloody knackered this morning. I guess that's what happens when you don't ride a bike for two weeks.

Tod sounds good to me for obvious reasons. I'm wondering if we could get away with the uber-naughty golf course descent?

Daz - after last nights performance, its not something I'll be making a habit of. We're starting to look like the Keegan era Toon.

I've also not ridden for a couple of weeks either, and feared the worse. Need to sort my bloody act, MTFU, and get out and start putting some miles in.

How about we leave that for a dry, dusty, summer evening when we're not going to churn a very public bit of hillside into tyre-tracked mud? Why not some of the other, fine, all-weather packhorse trails that we have in abundance?
How about Mason's, Pexwood, over the railway, Park, lap of the kiddies' road system for KOMs, up to Orchan Rocks - Whirlaw - Rodwell - Shepherds - canal - pint?

No idea where you are talking about but is sounds like an excellent plan.

I shall launch a shiny new thread about it tomorrow. Binners can come up with some artwork whilst he is working on an excuse for not showing up.

Sounds good to me. The golf course will as you say be a bit boggy and is probably too cheeky. And I've never actually ridden it in the day let alone the dark so would just get lost anyway.
