Church Inn Prestwich. M25 1AJ
8:15 Blast off
Bring money for beer and pie

No rain is forecast between now and then so it should be fast(ish) and dusty.
If anyone new fancies joining the terrain is relatively flat. We’ll do the mini trail centre at Philips/Waterdale then go cross country up t’valley. About 20k / 2 hours. The pace is quite quick here in a swoopy woodland single track kind of way, but there are no massive hills or technical boulder fields and nobody will get dropped.
Pint and a pie in the pub afterwards. The pies are poncy “artisan” jobs, but don’t let that put you off.

Mmm... pie. I'll have finished writing about stupid bikes then, so I'd hope that I could be in for that one!

Blimey! Could be the mother of all turnouts!

Largest number of riders so far in 2015 was also at Prestwich and was 21. It was a cold winters night on 5th January.

In my mind I sound like the bloke announcing the lotto balls.

I'm hoping to drag along some of the Stockport crowd, so it looks like you'll be up very late filling in your spreadsheet 🙂

Looks like it could be a big one. I’m willing to place a bet on [s]Daz’s[/s] somebody’s bike falling apart and us having at least one light failure by the time we get to big gates at the bottom of Hurst Woods.

I need to employ a mechanic I think. Of the 7 bikes in my garage, Only one is currently in a state where I could take it out and ride it without doing anything to it. And that's a road bike. Guess I know what I'm going to be doing over the weekend 🙁

I should have been out untill the wife said she is now working Monday night. I did complain that this working on Monday evenings is effecting my social life. With which she replied ok I will pack in work. So it's a no show from me for another couple of weeks

Last Sunday I said I was going to try harder to get out on MNPR but the MTB is in bits and I've got a business meeting at 6 pm in Derbyshire so will have to try for next week.

Can I just raise a pertinent point at this juncture:

Due to the increased numbers, is this going to create pie issues?

If they're running short, especially of the pork and black pudding ones, we might have to settle the issue with gladiatorial combat in the beer garden. Or jousting.

In Prestwich? I think that sort of thing is against the law round there, it is the rough north side of Manc after all. I have to make do with crisps 🙁

My agent is just having her tea. But I've had my people call your people regarding my pie-based rider. I will be holding court later, delivering witty anecdotes, and bon mots. Like an after dinner speech by Gazza.

Bregante - the bloody CPS? First Leon Britton, and now this?

Cheers lads (and lass). I was really enjoying that right up to the point where I wrapped myself round a concrete fence post. Is it just me or has that gap with the wire fence got narrower?

Off to buy a new helmet at lunchtime. Any recommendations? The only requirement is that it's not green and can fit a helmet mount.

Hows the head Daz? You were looking decidedly second hand in the pub. As for the gap in the fence... It gets narrower as all our bars get wider 😉

Wider bars just don’t fit down there. I’ve ridden it for years on my older bikes but only three times with 760mm bars and have hit the side twice.

Next time we’ll bypass that bit as we’ve had too many incidents. I got off lightly and clipped a post on the left then got bounced into the fence on the right. I spun my bars through 90° and have a little finger that look like it belongs to somebody much bigger than me and from a different ethnic background.

Hows the head Daz?

Seems ok apart from an aching jaw-bone. Still not quite sure how I got away with it. Sadly no one saw it, but it went something like this, although a little bit slower 🙂
