So, i've a mega tr frame (130mm) and a 2013 monarch RT3. It's working really well, however, in the quest for that little bit more, im asking if a little bit more is beyond what is realistically achievable.

The little bit more i'd like -

I run about 20% sag, have volume reduced the HV air can, i do have a habit of doing silly gaps on it and hucks to flat, so do do inevitably bottom out, not hard, just aware when i look down at the o-ring.

Now i could run things harder, but then it get to the point i may aswell be on a hardtail, naff all increase in grip, just some extra composure on the hits and rough.

Is this what im stuck with or if i did some messing with shims and damping, i could get somewhere better (increasing HS damping)?

Happy to accept the limitations if there's no work around.

What do you actually want the shock to do? (Unfelt) bottoming on drops and gaps sounds fine to me?

What are the settings on the shock?

How much do you weigh with gear on?

Legend - Good point.

Just in the back of my mind, when i am doing bigger stuff (which i've got a DH bike for now anyway) it'll be a harsh bottom out.

Im set in the mindset that when im trail riding (mucking about in the woods) that if im bottoming on that stuff, when im doing big riding it'll be a mess. However i have a DH bike now for that stuff so don't have to worry about it.

Need to remember it's my trail bike, not my bike that has to be capable of big stuff.

/sanity check.

You will bottom out on Big stuff unless the frame linkage is massively progressive. You will need to run it stiffer than the regular stw mincer

Unless you really notice the bottom outs it's probably fine. Maybe!

I run a 4" bike in a similar manner and just figure I'll worry about it when it breaks lol.
