I have a Monarch RL in 165x38 size.
Its on a single pivot bike and i wanted to make it ramp up a little more.
So i bought a pack of red RS volume reduction bands. However when i have removed the shock and the aircan, there isnt anywhere to put the volume reducing band. The internal diameter of the air can is smaller than the band. The only place that could accomodate a band is the end of the air can nearest the wiper seal, where the aircan has a shoulder and flairss out. This wider are is exactly the size of one of the RS bands.
Am i doing something dull? If so, what?
Iirc, they only fit in high-volume or debonair cans.
Ah ok. that would account for it....so can i get a larger volume aircan? or is it a new shock thats required?
If you want the spring rate to ramp up more then a high volume air can will do the opposite. You either need a way to reduce the air volume, or a mod for a larger negative spring (like a Vorsprung Corset if that fits) or a custom tube with more high speed compression damping. A Debonair can may give you that larger negative spring.
should be able to fit a debonair air can to it.
Unscrew the air valve and pour some oil into the air chamber.
thanks all, i will have a look at upgrade cans
