Hi chaps,
My Monarch is going back for warranty, which may take a while, so I need to get a spare shock for the meantime.
One option I've been thinking of is getting a Vivid Air, which would mean once I've got the Monarch Plus back I could use the vivid for Uplift days and alps trips, so it wouldn't be a wasted spare shock.
The other obvious options are a Monarch rt3 or another Monarch Plus, but I'm dubious about just buying a shock that I'll never use again.
Anyone ridden both the vivid and a debonair Monarch Plus?
Cheers
Ricks
Yes, and assuming it's for the Reign, you probably will want to change your plan.
Removing the shock (even with the lower linkage bolts flipped, so you don't have to remove the crankset and chain device, just to get the shock off, is still a pain in the arse.
Vivid Air is a gray shock on the Reign to be fair, but like most things RS is not cheap to service, and if it goes wrong small parts availability is limited, so expensive to fix.
Two word answer, Float X2.
The Giant Enduro team are using vivid coils, rather than the air. Cheaper option than a vivid air, even with a Ti Spring (if you are too heavy for an SA Spring)
I think alltricks or was it probikeshop had vivid airs for 320 euros? And I've seen monarch rc3s for 299euros about too .
