Looking at getting a monarch plus for a new single-pivot build. It'll be used for all-mountain/enduro, so has to get up some technical climbs as well, and for reasons I won't bore you with, I'm looking specifically at this shock.
I see CRC do two different tunes for this shock that'll fit the bike:
Low rebound - low compression
Med Rebound - med compression
In layman's terms, what's the difference between the two, and would either of those jump out at you for being more suitable for a single-pivot bike?
It depends on the leverage ratio rather than whether it's single pivot
Travel / stroke (in or mm - as long as both are the same!)
Ratio below 2.3 then low compression - above then medium.
Rebound rate isn't really the primary thing to consider...unless your ratio is on the boundary then I'd suggest low if you're lightweight and medium if you're heavier
Handy bit of info tmb.... Looking at getting same shock as op but for different frame.
Not sure of the exact ratio, but it's my understanding that it's a very slight regressive leverage design for use with air shocks to still give it a progressive feel, but less extreme ramp up (whether that helps?)
