Is it reasonably straightforward to add some spacers to alter the volume (to prevent mid-travel wallowing?)
I've googled but can't see anywhere how to do it

Yes, easy
Depressurise
Remove rebound eyelet from frame
Roll off the large o ring at the base of the HV sleeve
Slide the HV sleeve off the air can
Add spacers - I used inner tube cut to length. Two layers fitted well. This is where you can experiment.
Reverse above, repressurise, check sag. hopefully lower pressure will give more small bump compliance but resist bottom out. Worked a treat on my Nukeproof Mega.
