Throwing around ideas for a mini fr bike for a 9yo grom and saw an ibis mojo sl for sale.
Probably one of the only 34/36 forked park ready 140mm bikes buildable sub 25lbs
These as far as I can tell were straight streerer is 41mm headtube.
Whats the feasibility of reaming out the headtube insert to take a 44mm cup?
I'm thinking EC44/EC44 slackset and offset bushes with a tapered fork
Am I daft? Will he die?
Probably some fettling to get the cables off the top tube and it'd be a sweet park rat bike.
I guess an SL-R would be a better solution, but I don't see a small for sale.
Ive have a mojo sl in the garage that I tried too slacken down the headset route and couldn't find a way to do it as the headset bearings actually sit in the frame itself. I went the way of off-set bushings that did make an appreciable difference. Still rides great but with reduced fork choices I've got its 29er brother to ride (Ripley 2) which I do run a -1.5 angel set on.
There was a guy called Sars (I think I remember his name right) who actually made an angleset for the mojo sl but didn't make many and I doubt they would come up for sale very often. You could search for him on the Ibis forum on mtbr.com
